I think tennis should be in the Pro area (i.e. here) but don't mind where it goes, really!
Also, I am not a Roger fan. He booooooring. Yes, yes I know he's a tennis machine but god, where's his on-court personality?
I would really like Andy Roddick to win Wimbledon just once...
Other random tennis comment: Andy Murray. Will he live up to his potential (or the potential the UK media has assigned him) or is he Tim Henman part le deux?

I too have no love for Roger. Which is funny, since I was a Sampras fan.
I really think if anyone deserves to win a major, it's Andy R. So close yet so far.
I don't think Andy Murray will win anything. He's had so many injuries I think he'll always stay chronically injured and thus never a real factor.

Can you expand on this, Onyxrose? I have only vaguely been following his career (I read most of the UK papers and they're always looking for someone to pin their hopes on over there since Henman turned out to be a bit of a dud and English tennis sucks rocks in general). I was under the impression that his youth would outweigh his injuries so far, and he *does* seem to have shown more raw talent than Henman ever did. it would be really sad if his career got derailed by injuries so early on. I didn't like Sampras, and I don't like Federer for the same reasons. BORING. When Roddick won the US Open and sobbed oncourt, that was the beginning of my love affair with him. He seems so sweet and genuine, and I want him to win Wimbledon the way I wanted Ivanisevic to win it after he got his heart broken in the final a couple of times. How about the women? All I know is that my boyfriend thinks Sharapova is hot and I don't (butterface, man!).

I enjoy the women's game a lot more than the men's. I am a long time Lindsay Davenport fan, and was thrilled to see her come back after the birth of her son and win a tournament last month.
I think they should let the women play best out of five sets at the Slams just like they do the men.

I'll be the lone Roger fan here. I adore him. I love how he treats every win like it's his first. It's funny because from what I understand he used to be such an ass on court. Throwing his racket and having tantrums. Once he cut that shit out his game came together.
I think maybe he knows he's boring on court. He's not entertaining like Roddick and he can't do impressions like Djokovic. But he's got a job to do and when he's playing he's focused on the task at hand. Which is to win. I don't get tired of his winning either. It's on the other players to figure out how to beat him. And as much as I love him even I have to admit that Roger is beatable. But it's not really his fault if nobody can figure out how to beat him on a consistent basis. So I say...Go Roger!!!!!
As for Maria Shriekapova....I really can't stand her. I'm not a hater but I just don't think she's all that pretty. She's just ok looking. She's got stringy, lifeless hair and no body to speak of. I do respect her game because she is a fantastic tennis player. She's a fighter. Anna Ivanovich, now THAT is a beautiful girl.

I want to have 10,000 of Novak Djokovic's babies.
I like Roger. I've never warmed up to Rafael Nadal, but it's usually funny to watch him tug his pants out of his butt.

I like Roger and I absolutely hated Sampras who was such an arrogant prick off court and continues to be even now he's retired. I still remember his comments about Pat Rafter back then . I'm partly rooting for Roger because I want him to break every record Pete thought he might have forever. I love that it took Roger only like two seconds to show everybody that Pete was not the only one who could do it. And I'm pretty certain that Roger will win the French one day. He's a great clay court player, second only after Nadal I'd say. Speaking of Nadal....I'm when it comes to him. I also am and always have been the lone member of the Lleyton Hewitt fan club and no, I don't feel bad about it. I know his best days are probably behind him but the with the way he always played way better than he should have it was clear that this would happen. He was also very young when he started out on the pro tour. Looooove Novak Djokovic. Could watch him play for days so it's a good thing (for me, not for him) that his Grand Slams matches tend to go on for like five hours. And he really is funny and always seems to be enjoying himself. Oh, and he's also very cute . But stay away from the Sharapova, Novak! I love his friendship with Jelena and Ana though I hear that the girls are both closer friends with him (especially Ana) but not with each other. Thanks mods for this thread, have only seen it now!

I do prefer Federer to Sampras. I actively dislike Sampras whereas I just feel kind of meh about Federer. I agree that I want him to break all Sampras's records!
ITA. It would put the whole pay-issue to rest, and really, in this day and age surely the weak and delicate women can play 5 sets, too?
Did anyone read Andy Murray's comment re: match-fixing? He commented that it's kind of widely known on the circuit that match fixing goes on. Others have commented, too. I wonder if this will get attention from the media or just be swept under the rug?
