I just met an Indy racer - Stanton Barrett. I think he's sort of new to the sport and maybe used to race NASCAR. Anyway, he was really nice and kinda cute.

Sadly, after he won the Indy 500 this year, Dan Wheldon was killed in a 15-car accident at Las Vegas this afternoon. He was racing for a $5 million prize that GoDaddy offered at the last race of the IndyCar schedule; the crash happened on Lap 12.
It was pretty obvious that the news was going to be very bad when Danica Patrick and Tony Kanaan were crying in the garage. The race was called, and the drivers ran a 5 lap tribute to Wheldon, with pit crews trackside.

My husband was watching the news and they played the crash--I heard him gasp from the other room. It was horrific.
