I'm sorry e c0li, I know its hard to see you're team lose, especially to a team like Navy. Believe me I know, see Appalachian State. I didn't watch the game, but I read in several message boards that instead of kicking a field goal that would have put ND ahead, Weis elected to keep the players on the field. I think a lot of NDs problem right now rests with Weis. He's very rigid and inflexible in his game plan and is unwilling or unable to adjust. I also think player morale is down because of the losses and Weis' tendency to blame the players for problems that extend beyond them. I think on some level the players have quit on Weis. It certainly doesn't help that he rotates out 2 different quarterbacks each game, so neither the team nor the quarterbacks can get a rhythm.
I just don't see ND getting much better until something changes in the Athletic Dept., not just the head coach position. But it will be hard because Weis has that 10 year, several million dollar contract, the university stupidly gave him after year. I'm not a ND fan in the least bit, but it's horrible to see a team go down like this. ND will never be able to attract the type of talent the SEC does because of the high academic standards, but they should be doing better than this. I honestly think ND's refusal to join the Big 10 is coming back to haunt them. If you want to attract the talent and improve the overall quality of your athletic program (not just football) you need to be part of a conference. However I doubt ND will ever let go of NBC money pot.

I think my blood pressure has finally returned to normal after LSU's embarrasing victory over Alabama. I'm glad for the win, but there better be some Tigers running laps at the next practice.

I stopped watching the Texas game at the 3rd quarter, thinking we were going to lose to OSU. And then we scored 24 points in the fourth quarter and took it. Now I know why my ex was so adamant about staying until you sing "Eyes of Texas" at the end of the game. I missed all the good stuff!!!

Oh, sugar--this season, especially, you don't leave until the end. In fact, Mr. d says this season you almost might as well not show up until the fourth quarter. I know I have a few more gray hairs now over that game...but we actually got some props from the BCS computers this week, so it's all good.

LSU should have killed Alabama. LSU's lack of discipline during the game didn't help my opinion of Les's coaching ability . However, I am so thankful they pulled it out. The Alabama fans would have been unbearable if Alabama had pulled it out.

Well my superstitious self doesn't have to worry about jinxing OSU, and ruining their perfect season, so I guess that's one good thing about yesterday. It's sort of almost a relief in a way because I don't have to worry all week about how they're going to do now, and if they had won all their regular season games, I wouldn't have to worry for almost two months how badly they might lose to LSU or Oregon and be embarrassed again.
Plus, I'm glad that yesterday's game showed that maybe we really weren't that good of a team sort of like last year's team in that way, but just had teams that we could dominate because most of the Big 10 hasn't been that great in the last two years because if we got to the BCS Title game again, playing like we did yesterday, I shudder to think how badly we would have got beat this year.
Unfortunately, I guess I was right about Boeckman though because I thought that he would cost OSU a game along he way especially after his abysmal Michigan State performance, but then he surprised me with Penn State and Wisconsin. I thought that maybe I was worrying for no reason, but then he threw three picks, all of which I believe eventually lead to touch-downs by Illinois. Not that it was all his fault because the defense didn't exactly have a stellar game, but I bet they definitely getting rundown especially since everytime momentum would start going in OSU's favor again, Boeckman would turnover the ball.

I do have to adnmit I enjoyed watching Nick Saban's rage whilst losing--for the first time ever in his career--to Mississippi State. Hee! I would also like to give a hearty hooray to the Fighting Illini! Thanks for that upset!

I am not a big Kansas fan, but I have a feeling they are getting hosed. How in the hell is Oklahoma (a team they beat, I think) ahead of them in the polls?? WTF?? The one thing I can't stand about college football is the unwillingness to let newbies into the club.

The one thing I can't stand about college football is the unwillingness to let newbies into the club. Well, the BCS got it right. For once. I've been griping for a couple of weeks that Kansas should be ahead of OU and they finally ended up at #3, with OU at #4. Did anyone happen to catch SI.com's big boo-boo the other night? They posted the new BCS list, but with only the poll info updated--the BCS computer standings were the same as last week's, which kept Ohio State at #1 after their loss. Much consternation and uproar around here, until Mr. d figured out what had happened. We had to watch the BCS update on Fox's NFL wrapup to get the real lineup, and SI corrected their mistake soon afterward.
