The long exam layoff is over, we're back this Sunday at Rutgers! I hope the Heels are not too flat coming off the break.

I have one of the news stations on this A.M. and every time they get to this story it's all "Ha, ha, he's such a character!"
If he had ever hit my kid "coaching" I would personally deck him myself.
He's one of the stupid things my hubby and I have argued about through the years, hubby lurves him, I can't stand him.

As someone who can't stand Bobby Knight, I couldn't be more pleased that the asshat has decided to pack it in. I just hope he stays retired and away from my TV set.

Man, I always thought he'd never retire, and instead collapse from a rage-induced stroke in the middle of a game. For those who defend him, they seem to overlook the fact that he never became an NBA coach; one choke attempt and he'd be knocked flat on this ass.

Then there's the whole, "HUR, HUR, he's a real man, HUR, HUR, Political Correctness run amok, HUR, HUR" argument. To which I'll say, you never see Joe Paterno having a tantrum on the field. He chews out officals, sure, but you don't see him choking players and throwing shit either.

Besides which, if a female coach acted like that, imagine what the reaction would be.

If I were a parent, I'd be absolutely petrified to let my kid play for Bobby Knight. He's mean, he's violent, and I'm glad he's gone.

If only he'd left before breaking Dean Smith's overall wins record. Humph. (Dean got his wins in fewer seasons, at least.)

But if you were a parent with a kid who had the talent to be recruited by Bobby Knight, you'd likely be an asshole sports parent dazzled by hopes of having a kid making millions of dollars in the NBA. His teams win, which makes whatever he does them A-OK.

Oh definitely, there are plenty of parents out there who I'm sure overlooked Bobby Knight's meanness and the possibility that their kid could be hit by their coach just because they saw a fat paycheck at the end of the line. I'd like to think that these parents would realize that if their kid could play at Indiana or Texas Tech, there were plenty of other Division I teams that would take them where they wouldn't be harassed by their coach, but I'm sure plenty of parents were willing to throw their kids under the bus if Indiana was their best option.

And of course there were plenty of players who never got Bobby's worst. Scott May, for instance, who played for Indiana's undefeated team in the 70s, has never had anything bad to say about Knight and let his son, Scott Jr., play for Indiana too. But these folks are defending or staying quiet about the guy simply because he won. I mean, the man kicked his own son. He's indefensible.
