I know she and Budget Dr. Drew watched plenty of episodes of Celebrity Rehab because they loved that leitmotif of "I have a stage name, therefore I left behind the real me and anyone who loves me will call me by my real name as if I'm two different people." Wasn't that the premise of Hannah Montana?

That VMA hosting gig did nothing to convince me her team is not flailing because Witness isn't doing well. Katy is one of the biggest music stars in the world, she doesn't need to be making lame jokes hosting a past it's prime award show. It also showed me the value of comedians hosting award shows, they can recover when a joke bombs and not look panicked like Katy did.
I think she tried to pull back from her goofy over the top persona when she put out the first single but it didn't work so now she's crazily doubling down on it.

I don't know much about Katy Perry- she strikes me as a slightly smarter Britney Spears for the new era. I googled her (I'm out of touch), and apparently she's angered a few people recently, by making a strange Obama joke, and posting it on Instagram? Googled her to see if any jokes at the VMAs landed (terrrrible writers)... I wasn't impressed.

I turned on the VMA's briefly last night. I kept it on mute when I saw Katy Perry, who looked ridiculous and was being cutesy and doing this wide-eyed (boing!) expression she's been doing lately as if it's funny.
I turned up the volume briefly to listen to Paris Jackson, who was saying something simple-minded about the impact we all can make if we band together. While still on mute, the various dancers moving onscreen that I could see out of the corner of my eye while I did other things were making me nauseous.
That's when I realized I am too old to watch the VMA's.

Without the right producers and writers, she's got nothing to offer. So true. I wonder if she'd still be working with Dr. Luke if she thought she could get away with it.

Apropos of nothing, I think Paris Jackson is stunningly beautiful. She has amazing eyes. As for Katy, I probably haven't watched the VMAs in 25 years. I hear it sucks every year. And who thought she might be a good host? Based on what?

Paris is very pretty. From some angles she looked just like a young Courteney Cox because of her eyes.
I think Paris is a good kid and she tries to be socially conscious, but she's uneducated and inarticulate and I don't have any particular use for her as a celebrity. But there's a long list of celebrities I have no use for - she's not at the top of it.

I think she really is gorgeous and I have a soft spot for her - as I would for any child who loses a parent at a young age. (But her especially, given the wackiness and hangers-on and who even knows what that she has had to deal with.) Katy Perry, though, I have nothing kind to say about.

So, does this mean that Dr. Luke has all the talent? Because these singles from this album are just awful! I had Teenage Dream in the car's CD changer thingy for over a year without getting sick of it. And, while I didn't end up buying Prism, both Birthday and International Smile were splashy fun catchy singles. What the hell happened?
