You know what's really stupid about Anthony's retconned bio? What ELSE is stupid, I mean.

Lynn has a prime opportunity here. Even though she controls these characters and was writing Anthony + Liz = tru luv!!!! 4eva!!!! people still preferred Warren and Paul because they weren't pathetic milquetoast sadsack losers. So why doesn't she create a backstory that shows he had a life outside Milboring, that he's smart or funny or has interesting hobbies or passionate about anything at all? Sure, it would fly in the face of what she's spent decades establishing in the current strips, but so does his current retcon bullshit bio, so what's the big deal?

Instead, she makes Anthony pitiable. We'll feel so sorry for him, we'll HAVE to like him. And pity is like love, right?

Lynn needs so much therapy.

Sadly, that will have to wait until she bows to public pressure to start doing new strips after her "retirement" - she's submitted everything up to the current "retirement" date.

My wish? The last panel of the old strip is a bomb thrown into the wedding, blowing up the entire Patterclan. Now THAT'S an ending!

Some sort of Dynasty-esque Moldavian masacre? Sweet. The final strip can be a giant one-panel full-colour Sunday strip, with all the Pattersons and their hangers-on lying on the floor of the wedding chapel, their best side to the "camera", blood flowing everywhere, but the readers will never know who lived and who died. They'll never know.

Oh no today's strip actually leaves me confused on which way LJ is going to go. I've been preparing for Connie and the flashbacks she brings to happen for awhile now, but since the wedding day is already here, I wonder if it will be a lot of filler involving the wedding or a lot of filler involving the flashbacks.

I'm betting that Connie is the replacement for John in all the "sunrise, sunset" nostalgia moments, because Lynn is somewhat understandably reluctant to write loving scenes between Elly and John right now. Still, no need to make it look like she just added a dress to a drawing of John and named it Connie.

How sad that Lynn thinks following your dreams equates to running away. Girls need to follow their mother's dreams instead.
