If anyone in the Birmingham, AL area is going to see this opening night, please let me know what theater and what showing. I have to take my sixteen year old daughter and her friend, and I don't know if I can face this movie without someone else who doesn't think OMGEdwardAnd/OrJacobIsTheBestThingEvahAndILoveHim!!!eleven11!!!

My word. I just re-read the first book. I remembered liking it, not great, but good entertainment. Now I just find it annoying. I'll still be seeing it, opening weekened, though. And I'll be dragging the husband too, with the statement that "Not only is there plenty to laugh at, the vampires in it drive VERY cool cars!"

I did suggest to her that we throw glitter on ourselves and go to the movie as sparkling vampires. Speaking of sparkles -- MSN mentions that in their Twilight: The Lost Script spoof. It's quiet amusing and seems to make dead on fun of the books and what the movie will be like.

Saw another trailer for this movie. Wow, the dialogue gets even worse with each new trailer I see.
"You're impossiby fast....and strong..."
"I have considered...radioactive spiders....and kryptonite.."
"This isn't real.....This kind of stuff just doesn't exist..."
"I don't know how long I have waited for you..."
Even the Star Wars dialogue might be better. Does the dialogue in the book sound like this? I guess the actors tried their best to make it sound real.....but even that doesn't seem to work with this kind of dialogue. Now I understand why the actors in the Star Wars movies tried playing wooden instead. This dialogue sounds even weirder when you try to make it sound real.
The two main actors look good together though. I guess the lead guy's looks and the chemistry between the two actors is what will salvage this thing.
I imagine a lot of laughing in the theatre though. I kind of want to go see it to see how much everyone laughs.

Aw, I thought the radioactive spider dialogue in the book was cute. It seems like the movie is trying to make everything super dramatic, even the jokey stuff. Don't get me wrong, the book is overwrought and melodramatic, but it had little fun moments that I really liked.

Now I just have to decide if I'm going to drag my poor husband to this in the theater or wait until it comes out on DVD.

I'm totally dragging my Twilight-loving friend to see the movie on Thanksgiving Day. It's sad, but I think I'm more excited about the movie than she is. She thinks the film is going to suck (well, yeah, so do I), and is very chagrined by the comments that RPattz has been making about the book and movie. I did suggest to her that we throw glitter on ourselves and go to the movie as sparkling vampires. Now THAT would have been an amazing Halloween costume!

Wait. I don't get it. I haven't read any of the books, but I've seen the trailers for the movies. (And will probably go see it... eventually. Just because the cast is so good looking.) If the books are an incredible ball of suckage, why are they so damned popular? Or is it just ridic from a grown-ups point of view since they're about/for teens?
I are so confused.

I think it's ridiculous from an adult POV because the story is so dramatic and over the top (and, yeah, geared towards teens). I read the first couple of books and they were entertaining (guilty pleasure kind of entertaining), but they get progressively worse. I didn't bother with the last one, although the online recaps were hilarious.
I will probably go see the movie, though. Possibly on opening night. I don't think I can resist!

I think I'm going to sneak into this movie. Possibly drunk. I don't want Stephenie Meyer to get a penny of my money!
The books read like bad fanfic, and seem to be intended for emo teenagers. (The cast went on a publicity tour of Hot Topic stores around the country...I think that says it all.) Given the abundance of bad fanfic on the internet, I guess it shouldn't really be surprising that there's an audience--more surprising that someone published it in the first place.
