I haven't seen it either, bklynred. Last season really turned me off the show. I doubt I'll try to catch up.

If anyone's interested, Frederick Weller's nicely sculpted torso got at least two scenes in this past week.

"I just want to you to know that I averted my eyes." LOL! Although he totally DID NOT, right? I am so sure I saw a HUMINA HUMINA. Yep, still thinking about the torso and the rare book sale. I also really liked the double date. And another thing I love about this show is that they cut down on the nobility of the program. I have no idea how true or accurate this all is, but I like that Mary and Marshall are deeply principled but often have conflicts about the nature of their work. Every job is like that. "Firearm!"

Mary McCormack may make cracks at Fred Weller for doing yoga on the set during downtime, but it clearly pays off.
I'm liking that we are finally seeing Marshall outside of work, I just wish I liked Abigail more. I don't hate her, but I find her mildly irritating and not all that compelling.
And I wish they would stop reimagining Mary's previous relationships into something that is completely different from what they have been presenting up until now so they can make it fit their current storyline.
All that aside, it was a pretty entertaining episode.

All that aside, it was a pretty entertaining episode. Agreed about Abigail. She was bossy, then sassy, now vulnerable. There's nothing of substance or about her inner life or anything. Even a line about why she became a cop would be nice. Writers, give me a chance to like her, and not have her just be a stand in or distraction from Marshall's pining for Mary! About Mark though--I marathoned the whole series a couple weeks ago, but all I could remember was that she mentioned a brief, stupid marriage at 17. What else had they said about him? I did like the discussion about patience and waiting and not running from the truth. It's hopelessly romantic, but I thought that scene was very informative and paralleled well with the shittiness of the grifter.

I don't think they said anything at all about him, I don't think they even mentioned his name. Mary brought it up when she was showing Jinx and Brandy the letters her father sent her, and one of them was him telling her getting married was a mistake. Mary just kind of brushed it off and didn't say any more about it.

I like Abigail, but that could be because I've really liked the actress playing her since she was on "American Dreams" as JJ's girlfriend/wife. She's got a really happy vibe about her that's nice, especially on this show, and it works will with Fred Weller's sort of similar happy vibe. They really seem like a couple. I also liked that she bought him a lockbox. Not nearly as much as a I like FW shirtless.
This was a really good episode.

Yeah. I have a bad feeling she's been left undeveloped because Marshall will leave her soon.
Mary's ex...was exactly what I expected him to be. Yawn. Filler episode. But I did like:
"I've been known to April Christmas shop." Me, too.

But hypothetically if Mark is Mary's baby's father, do you think we'll see more of him? I can't decide. I'm fairly glad he wasn't a criminal, just kind of a guy who never really got it together. I loved the way the writers created a creeping sense of dread about the car dealership job.
