What.... Shane McGowan is still alive? Holy Shite! I fell into a weird place in a conversation with people whom I thought would have known about Shane/the Pogues, but they didn't, and I was going through that whole, "you know, only six months to live? Fairy Tale of New York? Teeth? No? Oh my, well then." And then tried to move on. I'm sorry I missed Shane's 60th! I'll have to dig it up and enjoy it. |

He used to hang out sometimes at a bar when he was in NYC that we used to live around the corner from. (Rocky Sullivans.) I always regretted not running into him there. But that was 15 years ago. Though he was long gone now!

Third post in 10 months so hope its OK. Sinead is OK, not to panic anyone. She has converted to Islam and changed her name to Shuhada Davitt. As long as it brings her peace and contentment its all OK with me. |

I loved her first album. She has sure had a turbulent life. I always wonder about her kids. I didn’t realize until reading her Wikipedia page that there were 4 kids with 4 fathers. She has such a beautiful voice but it seems a lot of turmoil. Glad you included she was ok because whenever I see her name at the top I think the worst.

I predict the persona of Shuhada Davitt will be around for about as long as Sinead's previous iteration, Magda Davitt, was around. So about a year.
