I thought that Georgiou was more pushing them to see that they're jealous and that there are still feelings there. I think she cares more about people than she lets on. I love her and I love Tilly too! You're not alone. I'm really invested in her story. I can't wait for the next episode. I can see that with their first interact (and she called Culber “Papi” - heh). I was more confused when Culber went to say something to Stamets and he was all, “Not now” and Georgiou seemed pleased by that. But thinking on it, that was probably the first time Culber approached Stamets since coming back (it’s usually Stamets chasing him down), so I guess that’s progress? I just don’t know what Georgiou’s deal is. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. But that’s part of what makes her interesting and Michelle Yeoh seems to be having fun playing her. ETA: I wish we got more of Tig Notaro’s character. I really like her, and especially like her with Stamets. Does anyone know if she’s doing more episodes?

Watched the first episode of Star Trek:Picard, and really liked it. TNG was the only Trek show I’ve ever really watched (though I kinda like Discovery), so I have a soft spot for Picard.
It isn’t trying to relive the heyday of TNG, this is about a man in the twilight of his life, looking back over his life with some regret, and in the beginning, he admits he’s not really living and just waiting to die. His career with Starfleet ended on a VERY bitter note. But something happens that gives him focus again, and he’s finding purpose again for this (probably) last phase of his life.
And it really isn’t action hero Picard of the movies. He’s in his 90s now, and when an action sequence breaks out, another character is trying to get him to run and he’s like, “Um...I’m 92?” It’s just oddly refreshing to see this approach.
And Patrick Stewart is turning in a great performance. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
ETA: I also kinda love that Picard has a dog, and Patrick Stewart demanded that the dog be a pitbull because he's into rescuing pitties.

I really enjoyed this as well. TNG was my favourite of the series. I'm loving Discovery right now as well and waiting on Season 3. I have no clue where the Picard series is going to go but I'm glad that I was able to watch the "Children of Mars" short that fleshed out the attack on Mars a tiny bit. Watching the first ep was very nostalgic but exciting for new adventures. Can't wait for the next ep.

I watched as well and loved it. It felt like real prestige sci fi, the acting, the story, the cinematography, all excellent.

I loved it. My Friend The Local Film Critic says it doesn't really get going until the 3rd episode, but I loved the slow-then-exciting approach.
Does anyone here have CBS All Access? Does it have ads during the show? I could just sign up for Canada's SciFi channel to get the series, which has a free preview for now, but SciFi doesn't have those shorts.

I’ve seen a couple critics note that, but I haven’t had a problem with the pacing. There’s a lot to discuss before he jumps into action here. CBS All Access has two subscription levels here - $5.99 (USD) with ads, $9.99 without ads.

If you have Shaw on Demand and all the shorts are available to watch through that. I have the Canadian SciFi channel but I'm not sure if you can access the shorts through the free preview.

Different note that I forgot to mention - I really like the Romulan couple working for Picard (I assume they won’t be around much once Picard is back in space, which is a bummer). The actress playing the lady Romulan is one of the most gorgeous “mature” actresses I’ve seen.
Also, this episode was directed by a black woman. So good on this show and the Mandalorian for getting some diversity behind the camera in sci-fi.

Thanks for the suggestions! I found the Short Treks on Demand through Bell, probably only as long as the free SciFi preview lasts. I need to know the thing that happened on Mars everyone talked about. I'm one of the people who sit watching credits after a movie or TV show ends, and I'm looking for the names of women.
