How freaky is this accident? She was apparently in the middle of a wide open beginner's slope, no collision.. The New York Post is also reporting that she is "brain dead." The fact that she was moved to a third hospital, and that - with all the stories and misinformation floating around the web - the family has made no statement whatsoever doesn't bode well, I fear. Wow. That is freaky. I am so afraid of hitting my head. It started some years ago when I heard about the girl who was hit in the head at a hockey game with a puck. She went home and was fine. Things got worse and I believe she died the next day. Ever since then, it's been a big fear of mine. My little nephew fell out of his chair and his head hit our granite floor. I was freaking out, and thank goodness he's fine. I wonder if the slope was very hard and icy. Assuming what we're hearing is true, I wonder if the fall was the cause, or if she had a stroke or some other medical event and just happened to be on skis at the time. It would be really difficult to have a fall that damaging on a beginner slope.

I just don't understand how there could even be conflicting reports when it comes to stuff like this. Either someone is brain dead, or the doctor has sedated them. Either someone is being flown to NY or they're still in Montreal. And someone is either deceased or not? How hard is that. Is being the first to break the news that much more important than getting the facts right? I can't believe they pay these people!

I think transporting her to NYC is either a good sign (she's stable enough to be transported) or a very, very bad sign (it doesn't really matter what her condition is, and they want people to be able to say goodbye to her). NY Post is reporting the latter- that her mother and children will be able to say goodbye to her in NYC before they remove her from life support. This is awful.

Reporting that she is dead, if premature, would be beyond pale...but who knows.

Wern't her children with her in Montreal? I think it was a good idea to take her home to NYC too. Maybe there's a better hospital there that's has better success with brain trauma. NYC is her home and her family is there. She needs to be with them and they with her.

I really want her to be okay but think the transport is a bad sign. It does not seem likely that she'd get a sound medical go ahead to be transported back to New York less than 24 hours after the accident. If she was stable enough to be transported, it seems like there would be a statement from family or reps to the media.
Also, I don't know but wonder if altitude can have an impact on brain swelling/injury---is flying is generally avoided if possible?
Just the fact that there are conflicting stories and no confirmations seems bad.
I wondered the same as KKSlider, if there might have been some kind of precipitating neurological event, like an aneurysm? The reports all say no sign of physical trauma, no blood.
Anyway, I still hope the best for her, that's for sure.

This is awful news. And the conflicting updates concerning her accident is just making things worse.
I also want to point out that because the family hasn't released any statement, it doesn't mean a thing. They have far more pressing things on their minds right now than releasing some statement to the press, so it's not surprising they are silent.

God, this is awful. I'm one who doesn't really think about her, but when I see her in movies or pictures I am reminded of how much I like her. I love Liam Neeson also and my thoughts are with them and their entire family.

Wern't her children with her in Montreal? NY Post reported that her older son was with her, her younger son was in NYC.

Horrible news. I've always thought her a lovely, intelligent actress who could do anything and deserved better roles in films(they don't write too many of those, alas). What a sickening tragedy for the family.
