According to a report from the Enquirer Lauer's let go with some risqué humor and nearly wrecked Katie Couric's star-studded fund-raiser for colon cancer.

Embarrassed Katie gritted her teeth at the gala when Lauer recounted some sexual conquests before he got married, according to sources. Katie organized the $2,500-ahead dinner at New York's Waldorf-Astoria on March 15 to fight the disease that killed her husband Jay Monahan.

She's the sole reason I stopped watching The Today Show and I can't believe she landed the CBS News gig. They're trying to spin this like she's some hard-hitting journalist when really she's simply a high-brow Mary Hart.

I'm not a fan of Katie Couric, nor am I detractor. I don't watch Today, so she's not on my radar.

Nevertheless, I think that there are many, many anchors out there who are spitting nails that Katie Couric got this gig, and I don't blame them. I just don't she has the gravitas that I like to see in a news anchor.
