That's it? I hardly think that's the kind of story to make Whoopie and Sting uncomfortable and speechless... sheesh. We're talking about Whoopi Goldberg, right? The Whoopi Goldberg who, while Ted Danson was being interviewed on one of the suck-up shows, mouthed in the background: "I got good p***y, I got good p***y? While he was saying, I just love this woman, I don''t know why, I just do?" The same Whoopi who bragged in USA Today that, to her daughter's chagrin, she taught her grandson to say the mf word, which he publicly blurted at every opportunity while Whoopi laughed about it. On the day of the announcement, Matt said he had mixed feelings about her leaving. Hee. There have been rumblings about her leaving since her Svengali was fired in 2004. There were rumors of her snapping on Ann, and I'll never forget her playfully slapping Stone Phllips when he guest hosted Today.... I don't think Stone has guest hosted since. That said, Katie made her bones when she ambushed Pappy Bush about some political shocker du jourwhile interviewing Shrub's Ma at the White House. Maybe that's what somebody at CBS pulled from the dredges of their memory. Or not...

I was shocked to learn that Ann Curry is a couple of months older than Katie. I thought Ann was in her 30s.

With all the negative press that Katie has gotten in the last couple of years, replacing Dan Rather seems like an impossibility. That being said, there was a news item that she is dating a big GOP donor from D.C., perhaps there is more to the assignment than meets the eye.

According to Matt Lauer on Access Hollywood, he's suddenly signed a contract that will make he and Meredith a team for a "Long time". Then they showed a clip of him just last year balking about long contracts, and how he was itchy to move on.
Coincidence that the job just got a whole heck of a lot more confortable for the long term now that Katie is gone? Ha.

Remember when Connie Chung thought her job was secure at CBS? The rating for CBS news have gone up this past year, let's see how the rating will go down when Katie is on.

I personally think she's craptastic on the News ... anyone else watch? Why is she SO stiff? It's as if she's reading every word that comes out of her mouth (and badly) - including the supposed "off the cuff" comments. I'm actually a little shocked since she's done this for so long. Are the ratings still going down?

[blue]She won her second week[/blue] but by a much smaller margin (70,000 viewers over NBC). It'll be interesting to see if the numbers continue to fall or whether they'll stay at this level. I checked her out and I was not impressed but then, I've never been a fan. Supposedly Diane Sawyer turned down the ABC gig because she didn't want it to be a Katie vs. Diane thing in the media (which it totally would have been so I do understand her decision) and I can't help but wonder what the numbers would be like if she did take the ABC job.

My only contribution to the Katie discussion is this:
She needs to demand a refund from the plastic surgeon who gave her those Tricked Out scowl brows.

I think the public is still curious about how she's doing and how the f**k she got the job, so they're tuning in to check it out. I watched once. I'll stay with Brian Williams, thanks.

I just read that CBS television paid $250,000 for the pictures of Anna Nicole's son. Another Katie gimmick like the Suri pictures? Walter Cronkite must be choking on this crap.
