This show continues to kick ass. It's so rare to see a cop show that follows the characters home and doesn't completely blow once the focus shifts, but I find myself just as interested in the cops' home lives as I am with their lives on the job. The implication in the final episode last season that Cudlitz's character might be gay was mind-blowing for me, and I can't wait to see how that is incorporated into an already fantastic character. And the opening credits? Are awesome. The music, the photographs of famous or historic LA crimes - it's just perfect. Actually it was the first episode where you realize he's gay. He's sitting in this bar and I had to watch twice when I realized that not only was the bar filled with only men, but that a guy he'd arrested for prostitution was also there. He goes to that gay bar often.

Holy carp - you're totally right. I'd forgotten all about that.

The opening credits immediately set the tone. Brilliant choices. I'd love to see Regina King, Ben McKenzie and Mike Cudlitz all get Emmy nods.

One question on The Runner...why does Regina King have a new partner? Was the other one injured?

I don't think they said why. I replayed the start of the show to see if I'd missed something, and all I got was her introducing the guy to the other detectives.
I think the show has been excellent this season, much more consistent and compelling than season 1.

We all wondered the same thing. It was very strange - no overt mention of the switcheroo. But I love Clifton Collins Jr., and I think he's a great addition to a strong cast.
WTF is up with next week's ep. being the season finale? Did they only film a few new episodes since they weren't sure they'd be picked up by TNT?
Bklynred, your avatar always give me shivers in my tummy. Gotdayum, that man is hot.

WTF is up with next week's ep. being the season finale? Did they only film a few new episodes since they weren't sure they'd be picked up by TNT? When Southland was canceled by NBC & picked up by TNT, they had filmed 6 eps. TNT purchased those eps, but no additional ones. They wanted to see how Southland performed before giving it a full-season order.

I absolutely prefer Clifton Collins Jr. He's one of those guys who's everywhere but just now getting some attention. Here's a thorough interview[/color]. P.S. Thanks anhedonia...I have yet to find an avatar equal in hotness to replace it.

The latest ep almost had me in tears: sadness for Sammy and Casper, frustration over Sammy's wife. Why is she so useless? Christ.

I am trying so hard not to hate Sammy's wife, but man she is so annoying. I really hope they eventually get somewhere with her character, because I can't stand her. Shawn Hatosy did a great job this week - I was really won over by him.
