I finally got the new Charlaine Harris book from the library, but am not that eager to get into it. I'm reading Tina Fey's hilarious book "Bossypants" now (also from the library). We'll see. My enthusiasm for the SS series has definitely waned.

Once I start getting into each Sookie book, it's like a box of Krispy Kreme donuts to me: I devour it in no time, get a momentary rush, then feel bad and guilty for ever purchasing it in the first place.

I just finished the book and I feel bad for having read it. Sookie just seems so stupid. Actually, many of the plot points depend on someone doing something really dumb. And all of the characters have uncontrollable emotional outbursts. And Sookie was dressed badly/bizarrely for the whole book. But you guys already knew that. I think Charlene Harris just can't really be bothered to write plot anymore.
I really like her other series.

I just finished Deadlocked, the latest Sookie book.  Bad, bad, bad. Even worse than the last one and I just feel like the story hasn't moved anywhere. And, oy, the Sookie is the *most desirable woman in the world* schtick is so very old. It makes me sad because the first half dozen books or so were great. Trashy, fun, irreverent. This was none of those things and I really wanted it to be. |

Wow, I didn't even realize there was a new book out! Sucks that it's bad, but I'll still read it. Gotta go download it now...

Don't rush to that download, it will only make you sad.
It's good to see though that Charlaine is still stuck in her 90s timewarp of what is cool. In this book there's a biker character who looks like "Blade" ... yep, has anyone heard from Wesley Snipes in years? ;D

That book was awful. I want my $20 dollars back! That's what the library is for. I've taken to checking out the series that I'm still curious about, but won't spend money on from there. |

I didn't think the last two books were bad, because I read them back to back. The only one that I struggled to get through was Dead In The Family, the one that had Eric's maker. That's saying something cause I cannot stand the show's lameass Godric as his maker.
