So You Think You Can Dance

I know other people are watching; I've seen you in the Katie Holmes thread.

This season is the first I've watched, and it was a bit frustrating during some of the early weeks, as I disagreed with a few of the choices of who stayed & who got the boot. This week and the coming ones are going to be tough, as everyone performs so well. My favorites are Jeanine & Janette, but I fear that like so many viewer-vote shows, men will be the winners.

I've been watching since Season 3, and am glad there's a thread for it here!

This season has bee a little blah for me in terms of standout routines, although I must say Jeanine has totally grown on me, and I'm sad that Ashley got cut so early. It does feel like the judges are pushing for a female winner, but I don't know that they can stop the Brandon train.

They've been pushing Kayla hard, and while I was very impressed by her early on, she's stagnated IMO.

I want Melissa to go, but that breast cancer routine pretty much assures she'll make it. If I was a choreographer on this show, and I got contestants I liked, I would make every routine "a tribute to my grandfather, who was on his way to donate a kidney to my cancer-ridden aunt whose husband just died of Alzheimer's when he was hit by a drunk driver." And if I got people I hated, I would do routines about pedophiles.


But then again, the Michael Jackson tribute episode got shot down.

The tears were too much. I would rather have seen a well executed Michael Jackson tribute.

I can't stand Melissa and keep hoping she's going to go home. She seems really conceited and feels that she is the greatest. I think her solos always suck, and she is blessed by never having to dance outside her comfort zone.

I find it interesting that when she was interviewed at the beginning of the season she said she was afraid to do hip-hop. Lo and behold, she has never done hip-hop on the show. I call shenanigans. I really feel like Nigel wants her to win.

I love Melissa and Ade. I think they're consistently the best dancers on the show. Wish they could both win.

I was wondering yesterday whether Melissa had done hip-hop yet though.

I don't know if they vary the passwords by market, but there's a radio station in Chicago that has a presale password for SYTYCD of WINNER.

I'm actually surprised people don't like Melissa - she seems so genuine to me! Huh - it's funny how diff we can read these things. I adore her + Ade, though I have to say, I did not nearly have the connection with the breast cancer dance as other people did. Last night's whole episode felt really flat to me, but I have been loving this season. I LOVE Janette and hope she wins, and the three of them are the final 3. I think she's amazing!

I want to like Kayla but something about her bugs me (maybe it was when she said she wanted to be a model?) and I hate her solos. It seems like she always gets the most fun, out-there routines (the kind Mia is just gonna love).

I don't like Jason very much, and think it's time for him and Evan to go. I'm kind of thinking Kayla will go, too - the voters don't seem to like her much.
