Count me out. Talk about a massive amount of suckage. They are horrible. They wouldn't know artistic growth if it bit them in the ass. All their music sounds the same. They are so utterly boring and bland. Do they even know what a personality looks like? They have always taken themselves way too seriously. You're a boyband. Go out there, have fun and make people happy.
I was very humored to see that Rolling Stone gave their album ONE star. I'd never seen a one star review in RS before. But if anyone deserved it, they do.

I am! As individuals, I think they're a bunch of tools (esp. NC), but I've never minded their music... Same here but I still kinda hate them. Whenever I hear of bad things happening to them I silently do a Nelson "HAHA." I have similar love/hate feelings for Mariah and Christina Aguilera. I wish they'd kick Nick out, though. Maybe then the love/hate ratio would be swayed a bit.

I had a misguided crush on Nick Carter for about 6 months last year. I blame my friends at Tragical Fiction for this. Then I heard the real Nick Carter interviewed, and any love I had shrivelled up and died the second he opened his yap.
I wish they'd stick to the cheese-wad pop music, but they seem intent on going the Adult Contemporary route now, i.e. "respectability," which means more icky, grody, boyband ballads. I agree with Trouble, who said they wouldn't know artistic growth if it bit 'em in the hieny. But it's SO FUNNY when they think they do, and get all artistically earnest and shit!
Hot damn! That may only make me like the album more once I get it!

There are lots of other bad reviews. Even Billboard (the bastion of soft reviews) gave it a bad review.
I just don't understand why they bothered to come back. What's the point? It's not like any of them are great musicians who are doing it because they love music (note that only one song was co-written by a member). I wonder how much *NSYNC not coming back played into this. After all, they went back to Johnny Wright. Something that would never had happened if *NSYNC were still together. Did they come back because they saw that they would be the only boyband out there and it's easy money?

It's like deciding between being shot in the head or shot in the gut.

Back in the day, I too had a massive crush on Nick. I have a picture with him that I displayed with pride in my dorm room.
Now? He is doughy...actually he has always been doughy, but I somehow ignored that fact before! I thought he looked his hottest right when Millenium came out.
Ahh, memories! I am so glad this thread is here so I can annoymously indulge myself.

I had/have a crush too. Oh, the shame. But this was a few years ago when Now or Never came out and Nick was cleaned up all nice. Since then there's been Paris Hilton and drunk driving, and the drinking and smoking and partying have done a number on his looks. Plus every time he talks I want to punch him in the throat. He's just so stupid.
I sort of follow the group, but I'm not really interested in anything about them except for the possibility that Kevin will one day flip out and strangle Nick.

They performed on the View yesterday or whenever. They sounded like shit. Have they always sounded that badly? Is Nick Carter the lead singer? He sounded like crap. The one that was on drugs is seriously balding on the top and he was wearing eyeliner. He looked out of place. And the semi-cute one with the nice brows was looking very old in the face. Hits Daily is predicting between 250k-300K in the first week for their new CD but I don't think it will last.

I loved them and have all their CDs ('cept for the new one). I caught an old SNL that they were on - singing "As Long As You Love Me" (my fav song). And my god, I honestly had never noticed just how bad/cheesy the choreography was. I mean they were dancing with folding chairs. It was just awful - though they did sound nice. I have friends who went to the taping of that SNL. We were all excited for them back then but now I don't think they'd admit it. The one that was on drugs is seriously balding on the top and he was wearing eyeliner. AJ has been noticeably balding since Millennium, at least (and I was a teenie fan then who thought everyone was cute, but even I could see that).
