Saw this last night and overall, it was a pretty harmless way to spend a couple of hours. Save your money though and rent or download later.
Katherine Heigl--who I personally cannot stand on talkshows or interviews--was gorgeous and charming. She really can be likeable and I think she's a good 'go to' girl for any romcom.
Gerard Butler--man, where did the hotness go? He talks weird, sorta out of the side of his mouth, and his attempt at an American accent was painful. His face is wrinkled and bloated (didn't think that was possible) and he looks like a drunk. What happened between RocknRolla and The 300 and this? hard labour?
The film itself was weird. It was trying too hard to be a gross out comedy mixed with a romcom. Ended up being a bit too gross out for my taste. How many F bombs do you need to drop in this sort of film? really?

Butler is (was?) a recovering drunk, and pretty honest about it. He could be drinking again, or the old damage could just be catching up with him.

That makes sense. Alcoholism is hell on your face, even if you quit the damage is done.

I saw this today and found it only mildly amusing. The premise isn't bad, but there wasn't much chemistry between the two stars, which is the most important part of a romcom. Also, while I do think Katherine is very beautiful and is a good actress I find her a bit boring to watch. Like she's too perfect looking if that makes sense. She doesn't have the same appeal that Julia Roberts once had or that Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon (who aren't stereotypical beauties) still do. I think I'd like her better in a drama where you expect a different sort of persona. YMMV, of course.
And yeah, as mentioned above I was a bit surprised at the language. There weren't any kids in the audience but I could see preteen parents assuming it it will be a typical PG romcom. It definitely isn't--at one point I started wondering to myself what the rating actually was. I assume it was PG13 but I didn't think you could get away with that language and not get an R rating.

If this was an ABC Family Original Movie (minus the raunchy stuff), I would have said, "Okay, that was not great, but fun to watch." Since I paid $8.00 for it, I'll say, "I can't believe I spent $8.00 on that piece of shit movie."
That being said, I think Katherine Heigl is so pretty and I want my hair to look like hers.
stargirl, you are right, it was rated R. (I know this because my friend got ID'd for it. She didn't even get ID'd for the appletinis she had before we went. And she is of legal age for both things.)

Whenever I see previews for this I think, "I liked Hugh Jackman in that role much better."
For those of you who have seen Someone Like You, am I wrong?

I didn't see an iota of chemistry between the leads in the ads for this.

I saw this today- it was raining, my friend and I were bored, and we couldn't decide on anything else to do.
It was a cute movie, predictable, but a lot raunchier than I expected. Some funny lines and I thought Katherine Heigl was an appealing leading lady. I agree that she looked gorgeous and I covet her hair and wardrobe!
By the way, I saw Bonnie Somerville's name in the credits and it took me awhile to figure out which character she played. What happened to her? She looked awful.

I actually thought it was better than Knocked Up, but that might be because I'm so utterly sick of the Idiot Manchild Slacker + Defrosting Ice Queen setup that it was relief to have a male lead who was something of a success on his own terms.
