Mezzanine by Massive Attack is so sonically dense, it's epic chill-out material. It just envelopes you and makes you lose yourself in the sound. Yes! Mezzanine is one of my top albums of all time. It's freaking unbelievable. I'd also nominate The Cure's Disintegration...a darker chill out album, but chill out nonetheless.

I also enjoy listening to Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation. Me too!! Thievery Corporation took a while to grow on me, but now I like them. Others I like are Air (I love pretty much all their stuff, Premiers Symptomes and Moon Safari are my personal favorites), William Orbit's Waveforms and Bombay Dub Orchestra's first album (self-titled). Oh, and I forgot Federico Aubele's first album, Grand Hotel Buenos Aires (which incidentally, was produced by Thievery Corporation). I love this album, the guitar and vocals are sooooo pretty. Sadly I haven't been crazy about a lot of his follow-up work.

ETA: Apparently Federico also released a third album this year: Amatoria. Guess I have another album to purchase!

I always find Worldwide by Everything but the Girl to be quite soothing.

Peace Orchestra and Tosca get high marks from me. They're both spin-off projects from Kruder & Dorfmeister, Viennese DJs/remixers who specialize in the trip and the hop.

I like to chill to Loreena McKennitt. Preferably in a darkened room with a few candles and incense burning.

I'd like to recommend Sia's Some People Have Real Problems.

I'd like to recommend Sia's Some People Have Real Problems. I own this album but have never listened too it (cheap, cool and new rack at Target). Thanks for reminding me. I'll have to take a listen.

What about Jack Johnson? I find it impossible to listen to his music without slowing down, being in the moment and feeling a little more relaxed.
