bstewart, props for mentioning Tosca. Love them! I've heard Sia before. I believe her album was one of those featured at Starbucks for a while. I would hear it when picking up my early morning caramel macchiato. I'd have to sit down and really listen to the entire album as I do not recall much about her sound.

Ahhhh, Jack Johnson. A JJ song came on the other day while I was driving and it made me feel good, despite the fact that it was our city's twenty minute rush "hour." Tasty.

I love Sia!
I recommend Ministry of Sound's Chillout Classics. I just stole it off of my boyfriend's computer but I think it's a 2- or 3-CD set that's filled with some awesome house and chillout songs.
The various Buddha Bar CDs are good as well.

I have tried to find this one but no go. :-( A lot of those Ministry of Sound collections go out of print quickly or they're pricier imports. Look for a used copy online.

I'd forgotten how good Erykah Badu is for chilling out. I'm Baduizm-ing away today.

I'm bonding with John Coltrane's Greatest Hits. Excellent chill out material (very relaxing.)

I've got a pretty huge chillout playlist with lots of artists already mentioned, but here's a few more that I like:
Loads of Elysian Fields songs, but no specific album. (I made a playlist of their down-tempo tracks.) Jennifer Charles has an awesome voice--kind of like Hope Sandoval, the chick from Mazzy Star, but with a bit rougher and throatier texture.
Almost anything by Lisa Gerrard, formerly of Dead Can Dance.
Tons of religious & pseudo religious chant, ie: Voices of Tranquility, Songs of Sanctuary by Adiemus, Portals of Grace by Azam Ali, and X Chants by Vox. I definitely have a preference for nonsense/foreign vocals for relaxing music--no temptation to internally "sing" along.
Sweet Shadows by Daughter Darling, vocalist Natalie Walker. This was a gothish one-off effort. She's gone solo and a bit more pop since.
