It's a testament to how awesome this cast is and how quickly the show established the right funny tone that Shelley fit in *perfectly* with the whole dysfuctional clan rather than being "Oh, look, there's very special guest star Shelley Long, from Cheers!" - really smart casting and she played well off everyone.
I totally dug Mitch and Claire's sibling interaction - "oh, you said Mommy - that's very telling!" "allright, but you got to go talk to daddy." - Jesse Tyler Ferguson had the most priceless face as he was like "ohhhhh, look who has the parental issues now" face.
I also loved Mitch's little rant about how he wasn't a momma's boy and capped it with "make a note, bitches!" - Cam: "That's not a good look on you."
The tag with everyone singing Rocker Boy's song was also really funny.
I have a DVR backlog a mile long but I have been hooked on this since day one. Am I the only one who is completely weirded out by remembering that Sofia Vergara (sp?) dated CTC for a bit?
On a personal note, I vaguely remember when Jesse Tyler Ferguson's open gayness seemed to me to be somewhat downplayed by the media back when he was playing straight on CBS's short-lived "The Class" (and he was perfectly believable as a dorky hetero dude), so seeing him play part of a big happy gay couple and now being able to be more open makes me feel all fuzzy.

I need to watch this show. My sister loves it, and she's strange like me.

This week's episode was my favourite one, yet. I loved Manny going "rambo" over the fake beard prank, and lighting that kid's bike on fire. He looked crushed when he realised that the other kids at the sleepover weren't laughing at his "funny take on current events".
Shelley Long's drunken freakout at the wedding was pure gold, as was all of the sexually inappropriate talk with her son. I also loved Cameron joking about the fridge magnets forming a pentagram whenever she visits. Or the anecdote about the exercise equipment she gave him for Christmas. The face Mitchell made afterward (sort of scrunching up his nose) was hilarious.
No, you're not the only one. I remember he dated her right after Penelope and just before the horror that is Tomkat. I remember thinking that Sofia was too hot for the likes of CTC, but I also believed that they were actually dating, and that it wasn't just a business arrangement. Those were more innocent times.

I've been catching up on this show via Hulu, and I love it (and the tag at the end of the whole family singing Dylan's song was hysterical).
I think Mitchell and Cameron are my favorite family. They are just so hilarious together. I loved Cameron talking about the gifts Mitchell's mom got him for Christmas (exercise equipment and a lettuce dryer): "I gave her a lovely pair of diamond earrings. She gave me...a hint."
I also love Claire (maybe because I've liked Julie Bowen since "Ed") but I have a hard time getting behind her husband. He's funny, but he's just relentless dorky. It makes me wonder how they ended up together. Manny is pretty awesome too.
Did they actually date? I had heard that he was trying to recruit her while he was wife-shopping (before he ensnared Katie Holmes), but she or her management wasn't down with the whole Scientology/wife under contract thing so it didn't work out. I didn't realize they actually dated.

Tom and Sofia did briefly date in early 2005, but it was obviously no match for the inspirational love story that is TomKat. I remember reading in an Awful Truth column that Sofia was overheard telling friends that Tom was raro which translates roughly into strange/odd, so yeah, she smelled the crazy and bailed before it was too late. I am sure they will ring some comedy out of Gloria going from a guy who looks like Benjamin Bratt to Ed O'Neill.

I think Mitchell and Cameron are my favorite family. They are just so hilarious together. Casablanca! (I had to do it.) They're visually mismatched as a couple, and I'd like to think that plays on the chubby husband/skinny wife pairing that occurs in many other sitcoms.

Okay, I love that Claire thinks Manny is weird because he "wears cologne and dresses like a count."

Last night's episode had some funny moments.
Lily in the Diana Ross wig (circa the RCA years) as well the rest of the pop icon photo shoot.
Cameron eating his way to the frozen boo-boo bear, and later screaming like a banshee when Mitchell is on the phone with on-star.
Poor proud Manny in his traditional Colombian poncho. I laughed at Gloria's reaction to the pan flute. "The poncho, plus the pan flute, plus the silly dance? My son will die a virgin!".
