I love both shows but the Middle is loved because I "get" those people and I "am" those people in a lot of ways (I live in Kansas, after all.)
I love the Modern Family humor but I do not relate to it on a gut level--they are all so damn rich and pretty and well dressed, etc. It's an escape.
And I have a really really inappropriate crush on the Axel Heck. I just hope the actor is over 18.
2 asides from TV Guide on these shows--kids names on the Middle: The head writer told TV Guide that Frankie and Mike Heck heard that if you give your kids a cool sounding name they're more likely to be cool (Brick and Axel) and Sue is Sue because it was Mike's grandmother's deathbed proclamation that a daughter be called Sue.
And I read in the same issue that Modern Family was supposed to have another member of the family who was a former Dutch exchange student that lived with the family when Mitchell and his sister were kids who is now a filmmaker filming the American family. But they said it got too convoluted.

Last night's episode was really awesome!
Seriously, the setup and payoff for the line "I just want that tart from Columbia to leave and to take her little Brown friend with her!" was Emmy worthy.
What's Sofia Vergara's Twitter URL? - I caught a bit of her on Leno and she very much seems like Gloria out-of-character too. I wonder if the writers started tweaking the character's lines/"voice" to match her.
I think getting her drunk and talking about Tammy Cruise would be one of the most fun things ever. I can't believe she ever bearded for "dated" him - she seems way too good and not Zombielike enough for him.
This is a really strong ensemble. I'd say that Phil's family annoyed me the most at first but they've gotten much better. Even though some of the characters are pretty stereotypical at first, I think they seem much more organic and like real people now. And Manny is still just fantastically awesome.

Huh. I thought this ep was weak and predictable.
And I hate the notion of throwing dozens of perfectly good cupcakes (or any food) in the garbage to teach a lesson. Why not pack them away and say they're for the kids' lunches, and still tell the kid to make her own? Especially since they're now going to bake them all again anyway. Ugh.

Sofia's Twitter account is here: twitter.com/SofiaVergaraJust as a sample, here is her latest tweet: Awesome. If Gloria had a Twitter account, it would look exactly like Sofia's. I agree that the ensemble here is so strong. Honestly, the characters I liked the least at first were Gloria and Phil, and now they are among my favorites. And I liked how they handled the thing with Manny this episode - we love him, but it makes total sense that his peers would think that he's weird. And I loved how he snapped back to his old self when he and Jay were teasing Mitchell: "Jay, there's a line."

"Oh, *that's* what you were doing in the shower. I was worried." I love when there's two episodes a night.

I was thinking the same thing. Never throw out cupcakes!

I always die a little inside whenever perfectly good baked goods get thrown a way. Such a waste it is.

No, I was too. Julie Bowen just had twins and I know she is probably burning the candle at both ends, but she was not this thin on Ed.

I wonder if she's hyper thyroid after the babies, happened to me. Another awesome episode this week. The car on the turntable had me cracking up.
