I thought the Halloween and the Sophie B Hawkins dance episodes were decent but yeah overall it is just a pale imitation of itself. The Christmas one last night was especially dire. I particularly hate what they've done with Annie's character. The character has always been a little annoying but she is way more simpering now. I like Alison Brie but the whole Annie fantasizes about playing house with Jeff is just cringeworthy.
I read somewhere that the episodes were shot out of order. So even though Chevy quit during the filming of the puppet episode, it was one of the last ones shot so he will probably be in most of the remaining ones. My guess is they will write him off after the season ends if the show gets renewed.
Speaking of which, even though the ratings are still terrible, because NBC is doing so poorly overall it actually has a decent shot at renewal.

Did anyone catch the season finale last night? Sorry to say if it's the series finale too I won't be too broke up about it. It has become so formulaic, Jeff learns a lesson and teaches everyone what they need to know.
Why couldn't last nights evil twin/alternate timeline story have been "real" and take the show to new a level?

I thought it was a decent ending, and I like the way they worked around Chase's walkout throughout the season. But without Dan Harmon, a really good show hit the skids fast. I felt nostalgic watching it this season, b/c I remember just laughing out loud in the past and now there might be a smile or two. And it sucks for the actors too (WTF did they do to Jeong's character?). It was a great cast, an interesting concept, and once again, TPTB let a show circle the drain.

It's like it's lost it's soul or something. Like they're just going through the motions. So true. Last night's episode was painful to watch.

Seriously? Hopefully with a new showrunner.

I saw this morning that it had been renewed and was pretty surprised. This season has really been bad. I used to really look forward to watching, but now I tend to let them pile up and eventually get around to them. I watched the finale today, simply because I saw there was a discussion here and figured I'd get caught up. I really hope it improves next season.

I haven't watched it since Dan Harmon was booted, and it sounds like the right decision. I'd rather remember it the way it was.

Wow. I'm surprised, especially with how bad it's been this year, that it got renewed.

I loved the season finale too (Joel McHale in his underwear is always a good thing.) The evil characters were so funny, like Evil Shirley being an alcoholic. And I totally dug the return of paintball.
I think the season improved a bit in the last couple episodes, though the Chang storyline continues to be annoying. The only part of his character I found amusing this season was in the the last episode with Evil Chang in a Napoleon outfit.
