That's surprising. I wonder what number her HBO documentary drew last year? That special was a big ratings hit. I don't think the poor ratings for the concert were a reflection of people's interest in the show or their music. I think televised concerts just aren't something that get big ratings anymore. HBO rarely does them anymore. I think the success of her documentary inspired them to take a chance. Most of the concerts broadcast on network tv don't do great in the ratings. I think a big part of it is youtube. You can see entire shows of tours currently running there.

The costume changes on Beyonce's part were worth it alone, if only because you have to wonder about the chaos backstage. Why not show that part? That would be kind of interesting to see. Yeah, that would have been cool. But it might have veered too much into "documentary special" territory rather than concert show.

Tina Knowles is honored at the Texas Women's Empowerment Foundation conference and tells her her life story. Really fascinating. Her parents were 44 when she was born, they were indentured servants at a catholic school she went to (and the nuns there never let her forget it), talks about going to Hollywood right out of high school to be a make up artist, the death of her parents. Talks about her marriage and divorce and having to be suddenly single at 58. The video is about 30 minutes long. What I also get from this is Beyonce sounds exactly like her mom. She's got her voice and mannerisms. Oh and Mathew has always been an asshole.

Saw this on my FB wall thought I'd share, can't believe I had to go a few pages to find her. Acting odd at a basketball game.

She looks like she had gotten in an argument with Jay-z and was humming to keep her cool in public. Been there, done that..

She looks high as a kite and Jay is clearly saying "are you all right?" in the clip.

It looks like someone forgot to charge her up overnight and she's malfunctioning. She's just dropped into standby mode as she knows her battery is low.

She took one pill too many before the game. She is high!

I think it's possible she might be high, but I also think that she reminds me a little of myself when my non-sports-interested self is occasionally wrangled into going to a sporting event with my man and his friends. It happens so rarely, but when it does, I spend the entire time after the first 15 minutes praying for death. Several of my female friends are into sports (or, at least, much better at pretending to be into sports than I am), so I occasionally wonder if the female celebrities papped at these sporting events are like them or if they are like me and feel as if they are putting up with a subtle form of torture.[/projecting]

In that vid she looks like she is casually stoned, and has a song stuck in her head that is making her sway. It doesn't really look like there's any fighting, it looks like they are making pleasant small talk, or Jay-Z is answering a question she has about the game or the venue.
