I am not super familiar with him or his music, but from what I HAVE heard, I am not suprised to hear you say that his music makes you happy, sunnyhorse. There was so much joy in his voice, you just knew when listening to him that this was a man who loved music. It is what is missing today in popular music: the voice as an instrument, able to communicate true emotion. He had that.
ETA: I know nothing about his personal life: was he gay, and does he have children?

My Mom and I were so sad to hear about his passing. We all thought he was getting better and would be making a comeback soon.
He was one of the few artists that everybody young and old could groove too. There will never be another singer quite like him.

To tell you the truth, I'm not surprised. I highly doubted that he would ever make a comeback, after hearing what condition he was in after the stroke. The fact that he had hypertension and diabetes probably made things worse.
I'm sad.

Very heartbreaking. I've been a fan since "Never Too Much," which is still my all-time favorite LV song. He'll be truly missed. RIP, Luther.

Those rumors never quite went away. I heard someone remark today that he had AIDS, I don't care what he died of, it's sad that he died at only 54. That is young this day and age.
(About the AIDS rumors, I don't think it helps that the cause of death hasn't been released.)

I was shocked when I heard. Luther was mandatory cleaning the house music on a Saturday growing up. A thousand kisses to you, Luther.

RIP Luther. Your soul is free now. Another angel is available for the choir.

Rest in Peace, Luther.
"Any Love" will always be a favorite of mine.
