My, how things have changed. Now it's all about the "Bump and Grind" by R. Kelly.
He will be missed. R.I.P. Luther

Tell me about, especially with men. AIDS=GAY--and to many people being a gay man is just the worse thing ever. I don't care if Luther was gay, I don't care if he died of an AIDS related illness. All I know is that in this day and age 54 is too young to die. And that he was a great singer, Here and Now is one of my all time favorite songs. In the age of RandB crap like In the Closet, I'll miss Luther. He was a true RandB singer/songwriter, with the goods to back it up.

**Sings** Roll out the rug everybody, move all the tables and chairs, we're gonna have us a good time tonight... Every time that we meet, we skip and we dip to the beat...what in the world could be better than getting together?
The last time we had a party, it ended when the sun came up, that's why your mama told you that you couldn't go out, stay in the house.
Bad Boy...
Gonna sneak out tonight...
I'm going to miss him.

I guess they never wanted to reveal how badly this affected him. Richard Marx is quoted in this week's EW saying that the stroke was incredibly severe, the brain damage was terrible and he (Luther) did not recognize him.
The funeral was televised in NYC and it was very moving. It ended with everyone singing Power of Love and his casket was then carried out of the church to alot of goodbyes. It was beautiful.
For those in the area NY-1 will re-air it on 7/9 @ 3pm.
Thanks for the memories Luther. RIP.

En Vogue is one of my favorite groups ever. I feel like a real dummy now because I went to a EV/Luther concert and left after their set. I remember reading that their nickname for him was Lucifer. I think Luther admitted in an interview years later ( I want to say it was in Sista 2 Sista Mag) that he did not get along with them.
One of the girls was pregnant at the time and I think that caused some friction. This was at least ten or eleven years ago. Maybe even longer.

That they haven't released the cause of death is indeed a bit shady. Either way, it doesn't matter. He was such a great talent. I love that he wrote "Young Americans," and that he sang with Bowie on it. Me too. Love that song. That is terrible what En Vogue did that to him, they sure did'nt follow the supposed "message" of some of their songs. Bitches.
