Promising Young Woman. I thought it was going to end one way—and got the point it was making—and then it veered a hard left and...I think it was both supremely and kinda fucking bad-ass.
The King of Staten Island. Despite my supreme irritation at most things Pete Davidson, I liked this. Judd Apatow did a good job channeling a lot of Davidson's real issues/traits into a cohesive story.

The Little Things. Oooof, I really wanted to like this movie--love the genre--but it's not good. Denzel is fine (Denzel is never not good), but Rami Malek is awful and I suppose if I think "well, at least Jared Leto is having fun with his role" I can give him a smidge of credit, but it was just bad.

The Happyland MurdersI just watched one of the weirdest (but very good) movies I've ever seen. It's on Netflix , under Noir. It's a muppet noir murder mystery. Funny, with genuine noir elements, also with very explicit puppet sex stuff. I recommend this, but maybe be careful who you watch it with. Melissa McCarthy, MayaRudolph, Leslie David Banks, Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale all are in this. The end credits are a music video of I Want Candy, with puppets from the film, mainly. I'm still reeling. What is going on in this world anyway, who thought of this?

Promising Young Woman. I thought it was going to end one way—and got the point it was making—and then it veered a hard left and...I think it was both supremely and kinda fucking bad-ass. This didn't get my attention until I learned it was directed by Emerald Fennel, who played one of the nurses on Call the Midwife, and is playing Camilla Parker Bowles on The Crown! Now I really want to see it. I watched The Dig on Netflix and enjoyed it. It's about the discovery of the Sutton Hoo archaeological site in Suffolk, England, just before WWII. Ralph Fiennes, Carey Mulligan (she is amazing in everything), Ben Chaplin, Lily James, and Johnny Flynn (from the latest Emma adaptation).

The Woman in the Window - Yikes, this was bad. I was meh on the book and yet that seems like a masterpiece compared to this mess. I feel bad for Amy Adams--she's hit a bad streak. Also, Wyatt Russell (Kurt and Goldie's kid) is really bad in this, unless you're into "I'm going to sneer all my lines" acting.
To Those Who Wish Me Dead - I liked this more than I thought I would. It's just an old-fashioned action thriller. Angelina's really good in it, and Medina Senghore is fantastic, too.

The Woman in the Window is the one based on the novel by the literary scammer, yes?
I double recommend! It had a few twists I didn't see coming. Also, I'm guessing the young woman archaeologists' husband was supposed to be gay? Or just cold and clueless?

I so enjoyed “The Dig.”
Not so much, “The Woman in the Window.”

Also, Wyatt Russell (Kurt and Goldie's kid) is really bad in this, unless you're into "I'm going to sneer all my lines" acting. The Woman in the Window is the same basic storyline as The Girl on the Train, right? I couldn't remember who played the lead in TGotT (it was Emily Blunt) and thought it may have been Amy Adams, so I was really confused about why she made the same movie twice, lol. I had the exact same reaction to this movie. The trailer seemed kinda intriguing so we watched it, but I ended up enjoying it much more than I expected. It had that 1980s/90s feel to it, that classic "bad guys vs ordinary people in the wrong place at the wrong time," a la The Pelican Brief or something like that, no zombies or supernatural elements. Also, I haven't seen Angelina in anything in quite awhile and I thought she was great. She's the kind of actor I usually don't like because I always saw ANGELINA coming through (I have the same problem with Sean Penn), but I really liked this character. And the kid really grew on me. I found his pouty-lipped, curly-haired cherub vibe hard to look at in the beginning, but he ended up giving a great performance. I will watch Jon Bernthal in anything, so I enjoyed seeing him here as well. Overall, just a good movie even if the ending didn't fully explain what had driven the bad guys to begin with (did it?)

I couldn't remember who played the lead in TGotT (it was Emily Blunt) and thought it may have been Amy Adams, so I was really confused about why she made the same movie twice, lol. The main characters have mental health and substance abuse issues stemming from personal trauma, and there is a murder at the center of the story, but the plot details are quite different. The Girl on the Train film has issues (and is not as good as the book, IMO) but it's a better film than The Woman in the Window. Also, Luke Evans is in TGOTT, which already makes it 100% superior to TWITW. Luke Evans >>>>> Wyatt Russell. Yeah, I was being facetious, I'm sure there are many differences. But I gotta say, the trailer did a piss poor job of highlighting those differences. If anything, it seems like they showed nothing but the similarities, which was a poor choice. I was genuinely questioning my memory about having seen TGOTT (and read the book) and thought for a moment that it was one of those situations where books are named one thing in the US and have a completely different title in the UK or other places.

A Quiet Place, Part Two. Really enjoyed it, maybe more than the first. It's a tight 1:37, so it gets right into the action and pretty much doesn't stop.
