Wow this place seems dead lately. I have been to see 3 movies in the last 2 weeks. Asteroid City - this was a disappointment to me. I took a friend who had never ever heard of Wes Anderson and I warned him that it can be a bit weird at times but I was thinking the humor of Anderson's movies used to more and make up for it. Well this was his worst for me. It would have been a total loss if it wasn't for the performance of Schwartzman and Scarlott Johanssen. It had none of the humor I am used to. Can anyone who has seen this tell me what I missed?
The Blackening - I went in knowing what to expect with some friends. It had the humorous parts that I expected but overall I think it was more of a long skit type feel to it. I liked some of the action and there were some jump out moments but in the end it fell kind flat for me and I cannot see myself revisiting this one anytime soon.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. This over all was a solid B- for me. It definitely had the action but for some reason it didn't really feel like an Indy movie to me. I have not watched the original series in well over a decade and the last one I saw was the Crystal Skull back in the theaters. This one had my interest all the way up until they flew to Morocco and then it kind of dragged on and on. Is the woman - his goddaughter - supposed to be the new Indy? Also the ending really felt tacked on and overall I think this was disappointing and a tad too long at 2.5 hours. They really wasted Antonio Banderas here too. Toby Jones was pretty good though. What has anyone else seen? Is anyone planning to go and see Oppenheimer or the new Mission Impossible?

As for the artifact, it's hard to follow up on the Holy Grail. I didn't care or understand much about the Dial, but it's a plot device anyway. I liked the kid (call back to Short Round from Temple of Doom) but Phoebe Waller-Bridge and her character didn't click for me. It did have some fantastic action sequences. We're going to see Barbie and Mission Impossible 7 at the theater. I'll watch Oppenheimer at home.

We are hoping to jump on the Barbie-Oppenheimer bandwagon and see them both in one day!

We saw Indiana Jones on July 4 and I admit, I cried because I realized it would be the last time we saw him onscreen, at least played by Harrison Ford. I thought it was very good, even if I cringed at the obvious parallels to Wernher von Braun. One of these days, Huntsville will have to reconcile that his legacy here does not reflect the rest of the country.
All in for Barbie, will probably wait on Mission Impossible because splitting it into two makes me think cliffhanger and I don’t care about MI: number 37 to sit thru that.
I think I keep going to the MI movies out of nostalgia because the first one was so damn good.

Saw No Hard Feelings over the weekend. It was funny enough, but nothing that couldn't wait for streaming. I do think Jennifer Lawrence has a talent towards comedy, though.
Got my tickets for Oppenheimer on opening day and am still weighing my options for when to see Barbie. Later that same day or the next? Decisions, decisions.

Why did they cast Tom Cruise in the new Agent Carter movie?
Dammit.

A friend and I have tickets to see Barbie on opening night. We both have a strong childhood connection to Barbie so we always knew we wanted to go early. She's really into cosplay and will be dressing all in pink which, in all honestly, is not my thing, but I am still looking forward to having a good time.

I'm trying to get all the 4th grade girls soccer teams in town to go do a "Barbie Movie Night" as a bonding experience. I'm hoping that they can subliminally absorb the message of "they can be anything they want" and that they can just have some himbo to be their "and Ken" in their biography

We saw Indiana Jones. It was good, but not great. I actually really loved how it ended and who showed up. Phoebe was fine but can we continue with Ke Huy Quan but instead he removes artifacts from collectors or museums and returns them to their rightful owners.
