I've been looking forward to Saw IV since I saw posters, but I can't believe it's getting a lousy 14% on RT[/color]. That's completely subpar.

I learned when the second one came out just to disregard the RT ratings and the critics for the Saw movies. I like them, critics and other people apparently don't. That's just how it is. I've enjoyed all 4 of them, and I'm interested to see how a fifth would work with Jigsaw well and truly dead. I'm sure eventually they'll get to be so bad that even I will think they suck but until then I'm enjoying the ride.

I went ahead and saw this. They definitely could've ended with Saw III <<but it was good to see Wahlberg again.>>> It's getting harder for me to believe the link between Jigsaw and the people he's affecting, I think. There's just nothing like the impact of the first one; that gave me the willies for weeks! ;D

Yeah, the only bad part of the first one for me was Cary Elwes pathetic attempt at an American accent. It was totally cringe-inducing at times. I know rationally that they're not very good movies but I can't help it, Tobin Bell is just so damn creepily mesmerizing.

I agree, the role was made for Bell.

Oh, I posted this in the What did you rent last night thread because I didn't know about this thread! Anyway, I saw August Rush last night, and although formulaic, it is heartbreakingly sweet, and a good movie for the holiday season. I hope Freddie Highmore doesn't get really really strange looking after puberty, because I see him having a great career. He's so believable and endearing. And Robin WIlliams dressed like Dwight Yoakum was not near as annoying as I feared. Good stuff.
Ok, one bad thing. It is very obvious that Freddie isn't playing the guitar, but what are you going to do?

I saw Rendition as well...really flat, and I couldn't work up any emotion for anyone in particular. No one put any heart in it, imo.

"Flat" is a good description of the movie, bklynred - it was an impressive cast, but somehow nothing quite clicked. Plus I think the movie focused too much on the Romeo & Juliet-type situation with the kids, which didn't really connect to the overall plot until the very end.

Man, that sucks about Rendition, bklynred. I was thinking of trying to motivate myself to watch it.
Anyhoo, saw Martian Child. Loved. Not a movie with the potential to cure cancer or anything, and the ending...er, that was the movie's only weak point, I think...but John Cusack's performance made me cry.

Did anyone see Whisper with Josh Holloway? Just curious. It's about a spooky kid and possibly a kidnapping.
