When I went to see the first Lethal Weapon movie, an elderly couple walked in with, probably, their two granddaughters, who were about 6 and 7 and this was LETHAL WEAPON folks. When I went to see South Park: Bigger, Uncut, whatever it was called, a man walked out with his son who looked to be about six.

When I went to see South Park: Bigger, Uncut, whatever it was called, a man walked out with his son who looked to be about six. When I went to see this there was a mom and her three tween kids. They didn't even last through Uncle Fucker. I'm not sure what that mom was expecting from a South Park movie. Not a movie manner peeve, but in a similar vein. I got Cirque du Soleil tickets for Christmas and had the misfortune to get a seat in front of a mom who felt the need to provide commentary for her kid for every single thing that was happening. Every. Single. Thing. I looked back to see if maybe the kid was blind or something and needed this detailed run-down of the happenings on the stage. Nope, just a regular kid whose mom seemed to think he needed her voice to tell him what he was seeing with his own eyes. I wish I was bold and rude because I really wanted to turn around and say, "this show is good, but you know what would make it better? If you were to shut the fuck up."

That exact same thing happened to me at Mockingjay a couple of weeks ago. The theatre was jammed, which was crazy for a Tuesday night when it had been out for a while. Younger Nukem and I always go to the movies on Tuesdays a few weeks after they've been released to avoid crowded theatres. A dad and his two teenaged daughters sat beside me. The younger daughter apparently couldn't understand anything about the movie, which necessitated her sister leaning over and explaining things in a loud whisper.
Honestly, Mockingjay is not all that deep. If you can't understand it, maybe you should read the book before you attempt the movie?

I saw The Lobster this afternoon and the couple behind me complained about the following: The actors had foreign accents and the guy couldn't understand anything and kept asking the girl, "Hey, what'd they say?" They hadn't watched the trailer or read any reviews because they spent the entire movie going, "This movie is weird. Why is it so weird? And OMG it is so boring." The second the lights came up she said loudly, "God, I really wish we had seen Tarzan instead. ETA: A couple at the end of my aisle jumped up and all but ran out when the Spoiler Spoiler dog that was kicked to death was shown.

Add me. Was it necessary to the movie?
