I am a romcom whore and I'll gladly pay full admission price for even the shittiest of them. For example, if I could, I'd already have tickets for Music & Lyrics with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant.
But that trailer for Catch & Release with Jennifer Garner makes me want to hurt people. It's just bizarre. "My fiance is dead. Hey---you're cute! I've found love again! Huzzah!" You go from depressed to romance in just 15 seconds. I realize that the movie probably takes a while to get there but it's pretty jarring for a trailer.

If Reese Witherspoon or Sandra Bullock is in it, I am there with bells on, but I get the same feeling when I watch the Catch & Release trailer. I'm really seeing a trend in depressing, relationship movies being marketed as romcoms lately. I just can't see a movie about a woman's fiance dying before the wedding could possibly be a zany romcom. Just say you're a comedy/drama!

ITA, jensational. I've seen that trailer a few times and I'm equally confused. Why is finding her in--what, a tub?--wearing her wedding dress so funny? It makes me want to cry just thinking about it. Unless it's that kind of movie and I totally read it wrong.

Yes! That is weird. I thought she was in a storage locker.
Also, there are a few "Wha?" lines in the trailer. The first is when she appears to be giving her eulogy and she says something like "He was 29 and I loved him." and I'm like "Why would you mention is AGE during a eulogy. I mean, doesn't everyone there know how old he is? Roughly?
Then she moves in with her "friends" but all of her comments to them are weird and stilted. There's one where she says "And I can fit my entire fist in my mouth! ha ha!" Ok how on earth did that come up? And why are you living with these people if they know so little about you?

No matter what I'm doing, whenever I hear the "fist in my mouth" line on on tv I stop, frozen. It's just so absurd and uncomfortable to hear. Way to go, marketing execs.

I just saw the trailer for Blades of Glory and could not stop laughing. I actually went back and watched it again, and laughed just as much. It makes me feel about 13 because it looks ridiculous, but I'm so going to see it. Plus I'm in love with Will Ferrell, so that always helps.

I love all the people attached to this movie, even though Jon Heder will always be Napoleon Dynamite no matter what he does.

I saw the trailer for Blood and Chocolate while watching AM Idol last night. I know that the movie has been optioned for a while now; looks like it finally got made. That book was so my crack when I was thirteen, although looking back on it it was totally cheesy. They've completely altered the plot of the novel, it seems. It set in Europ instead of the States, for one. But I know I'll end up seeing this movie if only because of my massive werewolf fetish.
I don't know if the trailer has been on TV or in theatres yet, but "Bee Movie" with Jerry Seinfeld looks like an average 3D animation movie. Howver, the trailer is too cute: the voice talent is actually dressed up in the bug costumes.

I haven't seen trailers (on tv) for a ton of things: Blood & Chocolate, the Painted Veil, Blades of Glory...what gives? Or, rather, what am I watching? I guess they don't get much play on the "Horrible Facial Deformity" network?

Jensational, I think she was explaining to her new friends that she had never truly opened up to her fiancee before he died and there were things they both didn't know about eachother, ie. fist in mouth . I do agree with you though, it seems a tad odd. On a sad note, I feel I've already seen the film, just from watching the trailer. I mean it virtually shows you how it ends. On the bright side I just saved $14...
