I finally watched Citizenfour, the documentary about how Edward Snowden leaked NSA information. Powerful stuff indeed. It really humanized Snowden. Whether or not you agree with what he did, I don't know how anyone can say that he wasn't acting in what he believed were his country's best interests. He's a patriot, and he basically gave up everything in order to do it.

I’m behind the times here, but I just watched Blackfish (about killer whales in captivity at Sea World, and one in particular who killed his trainer in 2010.) One of the reasons I looked into it was because I kept seeing Sea World commercials recently telling me not to believe the smear campaigns against them and saying that they treat their animals well. I knew something must be up – even though they’ve always had a bad reputation.
Sea World’s recent quarterly reports showed their profits are down 84%. They are also being sued by stockholders claiming that Sea World executives hid how badly impacted the company was by this documentary. Things don’t look good for Sea World as a company – it’s very possible they will go out of business if this keeps up.

It also caused Pixar to change the ending of Finding Dory. I guess originally it ended in a Sea World like park. Blackfish has had a huge impact. I think it is only a matter of time before Sea World goes out of business.

I watched The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young this past weekend and I loved it. Confession: I watched it twice after I made a friend who is a runner watch when she was visiting me and she loved it too. It is about an endurance ultra-race that is held in Tennessee every year (I think the 2016 race is this coming weekend) and is the equivalent of climbing and descending Mt. Everest twice. I am totally obsessed with this race now and cannot stop reading about it. I am kind of shocked at how much I liked it given the biggest race I have ever done is a 5K and I felt like I deserved an Olympic medal after finishing. I highly recommend it!

I just watched Noma: My Perfect Storm which is about the Danish restaurant known for being the four-time world's best, blah blah blah. It looks like a great place and the food looks earthy yet otherworldly and I would love to eat there. The film isn't that informative about the actual food, honestly. It's more of a stream-of-consciousness from Rene Redzepi. I will recommend it for the food porn qualities as well as for checking out the hotness of his staff.

Of listing of must see docs. A few familiar entries, and a few I've never heard of. I've seen 5/15, and have 5 on must ongoing must watch list. For the last few months, I've been hooked on Vice's channel on Youtube, and have watched a ton of random, fascinating documentaries.
