Tickled is very good. And very, very scary. Right!?! I saw it with no real knowledge other than what the title suggested. I was NOT expecting the rest.

Weiner, the documentary about Anthony Weiner's NYC mayoral campaign and the second sexting scandal which happened in the middle of it.
I came away thinking the guy is passionate about his beliefs and a terrific public speaker, but he's also a raging narcissist who needs constant reassurance. Even without all the sexting stuff, he treats his wife Huma like crap. I honestly don't know why she stays with him, but I suspect they may be leading separate lives since Hillary's 2016 presidential campaign began.

I also saw that movie and could not for the life of me figure out why Huma stayed either.

That scene of Weiner trying to run through a McDonalds and escape out the back door while being chased by Sidney Leathers and the cameramen she brought with her was priceless.
Clearly he needs a LOT more treatment for his sex addiction and unless he gets it, he can't ever be in public life because the scandals are going to keep happening.
He didn't even seem to understand that starting a conversation with a constituent on Facebook that begins with "Thank you for your support" and then moves right on to "And what are you wearing?" is not something that just happens all by itself and can't be controlled.

I also saw that movie and could not for the life of me figure out why Huma stayed either. I didn't see the movie, but I remember seeing clips from the press conference and I felt very sad for her. I know it was a horrible situation and she was forced to have what were probably the hardest moments of her adult life laid out for the world to see and she looked so vulnerable it was just painful to watch.

I don't think treatment will work because Weiner can't even acknowledge he has an addiction. He sees the sexting as completely separate from his family and career, even though it's destroyed both.

And he just got caught doing it again today.

There is something extra pathetic and disturbing about his kid being in the picture, asleep or not.
ETA- According to Daily Mail, Huma has split from him. They quoted what sounded like an official statement.
Good for her.

I just watched the Weiner doc this weekend! How timely. Good for Huma. Better late than never.
My jaw was on the floor during certain parts of the movie. How on earth could he possibly have thought that his appearance on Lawrence O'Donnell went well? How delusional do you have to be? That scene with him rewatching it online with Huma was, to me, the best moment of the movie that really summed up what a disaster he was.

I just watched a great 2015 documentary on the experiences of female character actors in Hollywood called That Gal...Who Was In That Thing. It's from the same filmmaker who directed a similar 2012 documentary that looked at the lives of male character actors called That Guy...Who Was In That Thing. L. Scott Caldwell, who played U.S. Marshall Poole in The Fugitive, articulated a brilliant aphorism in drawing upon her life and career experience as a woman of colour: "race is the great unequalizer." Recommended.
