I see upset Timmy Chalamet fans because he was snubbed? The guy is what, 21? I would like to talk to his fans about waiting decades before your favorite actor wins anything. Now that was agony. Ever since Leo has his Oscar, I can sleep again (please don't come at me, I know the man's life is a mess). As a Sam Elliott fan, I'd like to point out that it took 50 years from his first credited screen appearance [Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid] just to receive an Oscar nomination.

I’m rooting for Richard E Grant anyway but now moreso ...he liked my tweet! Yay!
Carry on...
<<< So much I have Withnail as avatar for the Awards season, not to jinx him or anything.(hHe himself backs Mahershala Ali)
Also on The Favorite bandwagon as its production team Element Pictures are Dublin, Belfast based along with London, and I love Olivia Coleman.
And shout out to local enough to me Cartoon Saloon who again have another animation nomination, their fourth!

OMG, Sean Penn wrote a poorly written OP-ED for A Star is Born, defending Bradley Cooper. Who thought that was a good idea???

Aww, no BAFTA for Richard E Grant I guess if he can’t get a win in UK his chances of an Oscar are slim I’d have loved to have seen his reaction. Merhersala Ali won.
Oh and they left June Whitfield off the Those we lost this year bit, I mean cmon BAFTA how could you.
The Favorite won loads yay including for Olivia Coleman who rightly declared in her speech....we're going to get so pissed later" Indeed.

Sooooooooooo the shitshow leading up to the Oscars is probably going to be more interesting than the actual Oscars, now that numerous people including several of this year's nominees are in open revolt against AMPAS' decision to air cinematography, film editing, makeup/hairstyling and live-action shorts during commercial breaks. What a mess. Separately, this Twitter thread is a pretty fascinating look back at Harvey Weinstein's push for Shakespeare in Love.

It would be great if all the people who signed that letter boycotted the Oscars this year. That would certainly send the academy a strong message.

What a mess. This pisses me off as well. I can recall a couple of significant moments recently in these awards that made the show GREAT. Last year was the first time a female cinematographer was nominated in Oscar history - Rachel Morrison, who shot Mudbound (It's on Netflix, watch it, it's great). She lost to Roger Deakins (for Blade Runner 2049), who was nominated 16 times before he won. He's considered the best cinematographer working today. It was an amazing moment to see Deakins win finally. That shouldn't be relegated to a commercial break. Also, recently, a film called The Silent Child won best short live action film. It's about a deaf little girl who is cut off from the world until she learns sign language from a dedicated teacher. A British soap actress made this film with her boyfriend and it stemmed from her learning to sign when her father suffered hearing loss while she was a kid. When she won, she signed her acceptance speech! It was a great, heartfelt moment! I was so touched when I saw this that I sought this film out and found it on Kanopy and it was wonderful. So, boo to the Academy for this decision. I'm actually considering skip watching this year.

This isn't sustainable. Too many people are up in arms. They need to reverse their policy stat!
ETA- The protest worked. All categories to air live.

Glad to hear that! It was such a shortsighted decision.
