Foxcatcher screened at Cannes and there are tons of "get ready for a world where Channing Tatum is an Oscar nominee!" tweets. The hand wringing from awards watchers would be so amazing! Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo received strong notices as well.

I'm really excited to see Foxcatcher. However I remember Llewyn Davies which played at Cannes last year, the critics raved over that and then it promptly got overlooked come Oscar time. I'm guessing the movie won't play until fall. Sometimes it's better up hold back rather than to get gushed over and then forgotten for 6 months at which time the critics have moved onto something else.

I know, it's May and the landscape could change dramatically, but I am rooting for Channing, just for the drama and meltdowns and denial it's bound to cause among certain award watchers, if he's nominated for the Golden Globe/SAG. The people who were apoplectic about McConaughey and Sandra Bullock will positively need the smelling salts if Channing Tatum gets a real-live Oscar nod! Seriously, though, there were a lot of comparisons between Foxcatcher and The Master, which did well on Oscar nomination morning, but left audiences cold.

If we live in a world where Jonah Hill is a twice nominated actor, Channing could have one too.

As someone who believes that Steve Carell should've been the one to get an Oscar nomination for Little Miss Sunshine, I am so happy that he's getting good notices for Foxcatcher. I hope the buzz doesn't die out for him and he actually gets something for it.

I thought Greg Kinnear stole Little Miss Sunshine. I was so bummed he didn't get a nomination for that movie. But, Carell was amazing in the Way, Way Back and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a nomination.

I really want Michael Keaton to take Best Actor for playing an expy of himself in a movie that doesn't kiss the industry's ass.

I'm seeing Foxcatcher at the Toronto filmfest next week. Can't wait. I would have liked Birdman to play there but I'll see it eventually.
