I think Michael Keaton is going to win. He's got the career renaissance (ala McWhoosijigger) and he's the old guy whose been around for ages. Actors often have to wait until middle age or later to get their Oscars, it's kind of rare for guys as young as Eddie to get one on their first nom. It has happened, but it's rare.

I can't believe Jennifer Aniston is a real possibility for Best Actress. I will be shocked if she gets in. Lisa Kudrow is the most deserving Friend for an Oscar nomination.
I'm rooting for Jake Gyllenhaal and Rosamund Pike, and I'm hoping for some surprises. Best Actor really is going to be interesting. So many choices!

If the Oscars were really about performances rather than campaigns, Brendan Gleeson would be nominated for Calvary. That film was tremendous and left me feeling melancholy for hours afterwards, and he was outstanding in it. YES.

Watching live and, whoa, The Lego Movie did not get nominated for Animated Film. The audience was audibly surprised.
Edit to add: Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Picture drew surprised gasps too. Poor Jakey Poo! I will volunteer to console him.

And nothing for Jennifer Aniston! All that hustle for nothing.

So Selma only got Best Song and Best Picture nods. Was Hollywood really that upset about a lack of Mighty Whitey lead character and the "inaccuracies" about LBJ, or did they not bother because they awarded a black film last year? Can't say I'm really surprised.

None of these nominations annoy me and I actually want to see many of these films. With that said, I hope Meryl Streep doesn't win another one. She needs to be moved to the Oscars Hall of Fame and not allowed to be nominated (we get it, you're awesome, we love you). Or they could change the name of the award to the Streeps or the Meryls. Not fair to everybody else!

It all seems very expected. It would have been nice to see a surprise or two among the nominations.
