Ok, that video of his family made me burst into tears. They were so happy for him. I'm a mush in my old age, I tell ya. It made me tear up too! Especially the part when his parents go, "That's our boy! That's our boy!". So cute! |

I should have paid attention when the noms came out as I just now found about Jeremy by watching CNN. Woo hoo!! I am so excited for him I could do my deranged Snoopy dance. I thought for sure since he was overlooked elsewhere that he would not be considered for Oscar. Sometimes I love it when I am wrong. Yay Jeremy!!!  |

To continue the Jeremy Renner love fest, here's a totally adorable video of his family watching the nominations and reacting to his name being said. So cute. I'm almost scared to suggest opening a thread for him because we all know that this is the place where crushes die  . Jeremy Renner is 39??? He looks a decade or so younger than that. |

His appearance on Letterman was so funny, Dave was in a roundabout way asking him how old he was and when he said 39 Dave looked aghast and said, "But you look like the paper boy!" Looking again at the video of his family it looks like he had a good gene pool to draw from, I'm guessing his parents are in their late 50s-early 60s and they both look pretty good for their ages. His sister is really pretty too.
Meanwhile, I'm going to the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards tomorrow and since The Hurt Locker basically swept the awards they're doing a special screening of the movie with a Q&A with Jeremy afterward. Of course I can't think of any questions.

Original Song performances: out. Taylor Lautner and Channing Tatum: in. I get that they want ratings, but that sucks for the songwriters. Why do I feel like the extra time saved in cutting the performances will be eaten up by crappy montages and superfluous dance numbers? |

Shankman's already promised more musical numbers, which no one wants and really sucks to do if they're not having the Original Songs performed. Also, winners are being asked to make supershort speeches and save the rest for a backstage "Thank You" cam that will be up online. That's b.s. - seriously, these people have worked so hard for this, just let them have their moment. I don't know why there's this perception that the audience hates the speeches - I mean, sure, people might not really care about what the set designer has to say but I think the useless montage and filler is far more disdained.
