Hey, Dwan, do you mind my asking what's this for? Are you writing another paper? Well... um... it's actually for the novel I'm writing. I'm trying to spin the whole "typical makeover scene" as part of the Daddy's Little Girl/Sparkly Pink Princess shit. But since this part is set in 1991, my choices are limited; otherwise, it could be a perfect parallel to the one that happens in Princess Diaries. The Marcia Brady reference, though, is lovely! Thanks, y'all! I've got some great stuff to ponder and work with!

Dwan, what about a book reference you can appreciate? How about Robin (the diver girl) going from the "blackballed fat chick" to "diving, running, hot-girl" in SVH?

And V.C. Andrews often has a shopping/makeover scene when the girl moves in with her rich family.

Now, now, you two, where is your faith in me? Did you really think that I wouldn't already be ALL OVER the SVH/Robin Wilson/Lynn Henry/Tragic Loser of the Week and VC Andrews/Heaven-moves-to-Boston stuff?! I SAID, WHERE IS YOUR FAITH IN ME, GAWDDAMMIT?!?! But if you can think of other book refs, please do PM me!

Saw a trailer this summer for a movie and I can't remember the title. It was filmed with a steady cam and there were people stuck in a building. I think they weren't allowed to leave for some reason and there was something/someone in the building with them killing people....? I know it sounds stupid but I like this kind of stupid. Any clues?

Okay, so all this talk about movies from our childhood has me thinking. I am honestly not sure if this is a movie, or a tv show that was on video, but this thread seems like the most appropriate place (if its not, i apologize mods) but here goes:
Back when I was little, I remember my Mom showing me a Sesame Street video where Big Bird and crew did something showing a lot of Egyptian things. I know the one scene I remember distinctly is Big Bird doing the measuring of the feather and and another object on the scale that was supposed to tell you if you were destined for afterlife or not. Its one of those visual images I've never forgotten (along with several other images from my childhood Saturday mornings t.v. experience...but I wont go into deciphering them now...)
I'm sorry its a bit vague, but Im hoping your collective wisdom can help me!
