I actually started laughing at the end of The Wicker Man. I kept repeating, "No way. Nooo wayyy!" I wish I'd seen the original first. Skyline was also awful, hell of a lot of movie to have so little plot. I didn't even understand the ending of "The Wicker Man." I thought I'd fallen asleep and missed something. My nomination for the worst movie ever made is "The River Why." Why the fuck did they make this junk? William Hurt is in it, along with that guy who was in Friday Night Lights, the one who ended up with the coach's daughter. It was about fishing and it was AWFUL, I mean REALLY AWFUL. Here's a few lines from the movie. Girl: What are you doing here? Boy: Fishing, what are you doing here? LONG PAUSE Girl: Fishing.

Did I mention I finally saw Insidious a couple months back? Awful. My first genuine 'why did I waste two hours of life' movie since 2003 (21 grams.) I think that DVD is actually going in the trash (first time.) It was stunningly, painfully, mind-numbinly bad.

The Core was so bad on so many levels it was worth it though to get to see the Rifftrax version. They really did a nice job on that one. If she keeps doing stinkers like that, the academy may tey and make Hilary Swank give back one of her Oscars!

The Core is one of my favourite bad movies EVER because there's not one redeeming or factually plausible thing about it. My big regret is that in good bad movies, there's usually one actor who knows what kind of garbage they're in -- think Gina Gershon in Showgirls -- but while Tucci occasionally lets on, it doesn't quite qualify.

I just sat through Atlas Shrugged, part 1.
It is indeed a steamy pile of shit. HOWEVER! I am not sure if it may be a little better than the book. Because, while in the book, every single character is a hateful waste of protoplasm, in the film, the performances are so laughably bad, that you can giggle with wild abandon.
Taylor Schilling as Dagny Taggert isn't very good, but she is better than January Jones (who was playing the part in my head as I was reading the book) would have been.
One of the special features is a collection of home videos of people saying "I am John Galt!" into their cell phones or something. It's been running as I type this post. It's been 10 minutes, and no one has added "...and so is my WIFE!"
Jeebus. I need some gonzo porn to stimulate my intellect....
ETA: ZOINKS! I hit fast forward..."I am John Galt" goes on for 35 friggin' minutes! it must be every single person who saw this in an actual theatre.

I also love to hate on this movie because I watched it with a (now ex) friend who claimed that on the commentary, they gave actual plausible scientific evidence that this could really happen and he truly believed that with his whole heart.

Personally, I think The Core was named thus so that our Cockney friends could say "Cor, that was terrible!"

There's someone on the planet who actually liked or cared about The Core enough to watch it with the DVD commentary on??
eta - I barely remember it so I looked up the plot on Wiki, and:
Right, because if someone posted online that there was a government conspiracy involving top secret super high tech vessels doing freaky stuff, the entire population would freak out!
The US government names top secret plans to save earth from certain destruction after 15 year old girls who live in trailer parks and dream of being in girl bands?
*Dies laughing* Damn, reading that summary is way more entertaining than actually watching the movie.

I'm gonna point a finger at you, tszuj and americanchai, for suggesting something which actually never occurred to me before. I'm #8 on the library's hold list for the DVD. I must revel in the badness. For it is what I do.

Oh, I Netflixed it with wild abandon the minute I read this thread. I feel like we should have a board watch-along.
