Sorry for your bad news, Smilla. All editing mistakes are forgiven. For some reason, The Exorcist and The Ring didn't scare me much at all. I think the hype made me jaded. House of 1,000 Corpses was definitely freaky. That guy at the end that's hanging by the ceiling, futzing over the person on the table? Yeek. I also saw The Blair Witch Project in the theatres. The drive home through the woods was the worst. Also, being dropped off by my friend, and then having to walk to the front door int eh dark, w/ the woods across the street? I'm surprised I didn't run, screaming, towards my front door. Anything w/ that herky-jerky filming (like the dr over the video surveillance camera in House on Haunted Hill) give me the creeps. Even if the movie is cheesy, that type of edited curdles my milk.

Me, too! I worked on a geriatric-psych unit at one time, too, thankfully nothing like that.

Spoilers Ahead (for some reason my beige out wouldn't work this time).
For me, definitely The Omen. Even the music in it was scary. The graveyard scene with the Ambassador and the photographer had to be the scariest of all scenes! They were searching the graveyard for a certain stone and through the camera's point of view, you could tell they were being watched and stalked, but you couldn't see by what -- at first.
And the Hell Hound brought in by the nanny to protect Damien -- That scene where the Ambassador is creeping through the house and you can hear the dog panting and roaming up and down corridors looking for the Ambassador to hunt him down...

28 Days Later scared the crap out of me and I don't get scared real easy. Zombie movies have always bored me because the zombies move so slowly I know I can out run them. This film though was like zombies (and I know they are not really zombies, just infected but still) on fast forward. The scene in the tunnel just freaks me the hell out. The ending did suck though.
The Exorcist Ever since they added that spiderwalk scene, I have been unable to watch it again.
The Ring where she comes out of the tv. One of the creepiest moments ever.
Blair Witch Again, freaked me out. I have not gone camping since.
and finally Lemora: A Childs Tale of The Supernatural. I saw this as a little kid and bought it a few years ago and have yet to finish it. Way creepy.
I wish I could say Jaws scared me but I have always loved sharks and I cried for poor Bruce at the end.

The movie was pretty boring, but, like others, Samara coming out of the TV scared the shit outta me. I had nightmares for two nights. I think it's b/c I watch so much TV that the thought of some creepy kid crawling out of it gives me the heebie jeebies.

I very rarely watch scary movies because, well, I'm a wimp.
Halloween I saw when my older sister dragged me to it with her boyfriend. She was supposed to be babysitting me but she wanted to go out. Why they let an eleven year old in with two teenagers is beyond me! I was too young to watch a movie like that IMHO and the cracking noises as the killer used the knife were awful!!! I had nightmares for years about that. I didn't really see another gory movie until I was babysitting and saw Silence of the Lambs on a movie channel. Watching it alone...dark, unfamiliar house...stormy Florida night...the neighbor comes to check on me and aaaaaaahhhh! I scream like a banshee.
The Omen I saw on tv and boy was that intense! Having an evil child character is so very disturbing.
And The Blair Witch Project made me throw up, truly. I was pregnant and with the spinning and weird sounds I couldn't handle it and ended up fleeing the theater for the ladies room. I should find a spoiler site for it because I know I'll never see it again.
Part of me wants to see the sequel and prequel to Silence of the Lambs but I've heard they're even gorier. Are they any good?

Even worse is when she comes out of the TV and then jumps closer to the guy all of a sudden.
Word to settings playing a role WoopdeDoo. I saw Scream the first time alone in a strange house on a closed-in porch surrounded by windows. I don't recommend it. I remember hearing that drive-ins were showing Blair Witch and I think Signs, which to me seems like you're begging for your guests to have a heart attack.

The Changeling. George C Scott and a sad, angry ghost. A friend of mine hyped this movie to me for fifteen years as the scariest movie ever and I figured that nothing could live up to that hype. Then I watched the video on a wee little tv and was scared speechless by it. Especially after the friend who made me watch the thing went home and left me alone in a basement apartment. Aah!

(I'll start out by admitting to be a big chicken when it comes to scary movies so I haven't seen the usual litany of horror flicks.)
For me, Predator was one of the scariest because for 3/4 of the movie you had no idea just what the hell was out there killing these guys. I'm pretty sure this was about the time that computers were out of their first walking shoes and learning to really juice up the special effects in movies so none of this stuff had really been seen before either. Once the alien was revealed it wasn't so bad but up until then, I had my feet off the floor and my hands over my face while trying to look over my shoulder in the theatre.

WoopdeDoo, I saw Hannibal in the theater and thought it sucked. Royally. Gory, silly crap. You could almost see how embarrassed Sir Anthony was to be in this movie. However, I only recently saw Red Dragon, and was impressed. I was so afraid it would continue along the Hannibal line, but not so. Much better, although not as good as SotL. Then again, I LOVE both Ralph Fiennes and Edward Norton, so make of that what you will!
Topic: I watched Deliverance with a friend last year. Neither of us had seen it, and it was on TCM starting at about 11:30 one night. She fell asleep about halfway through. I almost peed my pants. Creepy-ass banjo kid. Gave me the willies for weeks. ::shudder:: I'm twenty-six, people. What a wuss!
