Pet Semetary terrified me. I was probably about 10 when I first saw it, and I couldn't sleep for weeks! It was just so creepy, from the little kids' chanting in the beginning credits, to the story Crandall told about they guy (and his dog) who came back from the dead, to Rachel's sister Zelda in the back room of her childhood home. I have heard the book is even worse, but I have never been brave enough to read it. I actually made myself watch it alone not too long ago, just to overcome this terrible fear I had of this movie (I'm 25 now) and I think it kind of helped, but I'm still freaked out by it.
"Sometimes dead is better." (shudder)

So, I haven't seen The Changeling since I was much, much younger and all this talk made me rent it again. Still, very, very scary. And, even though I knew about the red ball, I still got chickenskin when it happened.
Also, Triolgy of Terror owns this thread for me. I was traumatized by the images of that damn voodoo doll chasing Karen Black around her apartment for years. *shudder*

"The Exorcist" without a doubt the scariest movie of all time. It came out in the 70's and I still remember when the ads came on having to run out of the room as a little kid. I've seen it over a dozen times of the years, and to this day I still can't sleep for a week after watching it. To make matters worse I still haven't mustered up the courage to watch the extended Director's cut. Yikes

The Wicker Man always scared the bejeezus out of me. It's considered a "cult classic" (I hate that term, but there you go) and was filmed in 1973. If I recall correctly, almost all of the copies of the film were lost, but a few survived and the film developed a following. It's one of the most creepy and unnerving films I've ever seen. The basic premise (cop comes to small, seemingly idyllic village to investigate a disappearance; locals are a tad on the weird side) isn't so far-fetched or supernatural, but then it just gets odder and more disquieting as the movie progresses. If you haven't checked it out, I strongly recommend it.

Hey, thanks! ;D
I saw clips from The Wicker Man on one of those 100 Scariest Movie Moments shows (VH1, maybe?) and have been intrigued ever since. The animal masks look pretty freaky. The end was definitely disturbing, w/ the dancing and the swaying and the screaming and the burning. Yikes.

The Sentinel (1977). My husband and I slept with the lights on we were so creeped out by the movie.

Every damn Friday the 13th movie scares the shit out of me. It doesn't stop me from watching them, though. In fact, sometimes I turn off the lights and watch them. And I always hate myself later. I've always been afraid of Jason, and I have no idea why, really. My favorite one is "Jason takes Manhattan," which I know is the most hated of the series.
Copycat is a really scary movie about a guy who copies all the famous serial killers from years past. It is a really good movie, although almost nobody I know has seen it, or even heard of it.
And I'm going to admit that The Legend of Sleepy Hollow scares me. I watch it every Halloween and it still freaks me out. I don't care if it's a cartoon. That is one fucked up cartoon, and is roughly 1,000 times scarier than Tim Burton's live action remake. The line "You can't reason with a headless man" just gives me the creeps.

I saw it in the theatre, baby! One of my favorites. I loved that Sigourney Weaver's character was agoraphobic. They did a good job portraying that. Also, Harry Connick, Jr is damn creepy.

Ooh, I saw it too. I couldn't remember who played Harry Connick Jr's role. I kept thinking James Spader, for some reason. I guess both of them have the creepy deadpan thing down.
