Speaking as an "old", I replaced my more important cassettes with CDs, and then over time just turned the CDs into mp3 format on the new-fangled thingamagiggy. Though I'll still listen to CDs in the horseless buggy.

I kid, I don't have an auxillary jack so I also listen to CDs in my horseless buggy as well.
I still don't quite understand the "but it's WARMER!" argument from vinylphiles.
Does anyone have a recommendation for free DVD indexing software?

I tried to become a vinylphile in college, but just couldn't be bothered. Though I do think there's something to be said for the "lost art" of cover art.
Back on topic, I found season 1 of new 90210 for $10 at the grocery store and watched the whole thing in a weekend. Yay for the discount DVD rack!

On the note of the lost art of cover art, this " Worst DVD Cover Art EVER" thread from the Criterion Forum is HIGH-LARIOUS. No details beyond the title & spine number, but Criterion officially announced that "Kiss Me Deadly" is forthcoming on Blu/DVD. Which is AWESOME. It's a really fantastic, often imitated, touchstone in the noir genre but has been languishing in OOP/Public Domain Hell for a while. They could get tons of special feature mileage out of the various endings alone (Aldrich versus the Studios preferred cuts, etc) and tracing its homages/imitations (the glowy mystery briefcase in Pulp Fiction is a KMD nod, for example). It has the most ridiculous name, but DVDBeaver.com is a really great resource - besides straight ahead DVD reviews, they also do extensive comparisons of various releases of the same title (original disc versus SE, Region 1 transfer versus overseas, etc) to let folks know which is the "best" DVD available. It really makes me want a region-free player, though!

Double-posting to inform everyone that Barnes & Noble's semiannual 50% off Criterions DVDs and Blus sale starts today. There's been a hell of a lot of amazing releases since the last time.
Also, in case it wasn't obvious that the disc-based market is dying, the Criterion deal with Hulu Plus (8 bucks a month) has been superamazing - many of the things that they're posting to streaming have yet to see a dvd release.
