I am superexcited because (a) I'm reviving a four-year-old thread and (b) the sequel to The Best Man finally comes out this Christmas! (I know, the reviews aren't great, but I. Don't. Care.) ETA: OK, I just ruined it for myself, no help needed -- Eddie Cibrian is in it. I feel my gorge rising. Yeah, I kind of broke watching the commercial. "YAY! The Best Man sequ--oh, HELL NO." I'll still watch it, though. Oh, I will, too. Was thinking about slinking into a matinee this week.

Hee! I'm holding out hope that his character will be a slimeball, and then all will be righted.

All of the films they produced have been Oscar nominees for Best Picture, so that's a good sign. Still, a sequel? Really? However, I would love to see again Marlo Thomas' TV Movie remake of IAWL, entitled It Happened One Christmas which I really loved as a kid, but have no idea how it would hold up now.

What a terrible idea. Even if it's a good "sequel" (it sounds more like a remake), the best thing you will be able to say about it is that they didn't screw up a good thing. I know some people have issues with his work but I love Frank Capra and this just seems so very wrong. They could have just written a semi-original story as an homage without making it a sequel.

I would have like to see something more sci-fi, like Pottersville is actually real and Bedford Falls is a strange, hermetically sealed place. Like Pleasantville, but with Christmas.

I cannot wait for my annual viewing of Scrooged. I could watch Carol Kane brain Bill Murray with a toaster on a loop and never tire of it. [Runs off to youtube...]
I also watch The Bodyguard and A Few Good Men during the Christmas season, too. Not sure why?

I have weird movies that make me feel Christmassy too. For example, my movie of choice while wrapping presents has been Pirates of the Caribbean for years.

L.A. Confidential!!! (big surprise) Watch it every year for a dose of X-mas noir. It's Christmas Eve in the City of Angels, and while decent citizens sleep the sleep of the righteous, hopheads prowl for marijuana!

We're going to be watching Kirkle's "Saving Christmas" this year (with plenty of alcohol and weed- unfortunately I'm single atm so there will be no fornication). Hoping that it will be hilariously awful, and not just awful, but if not, I have "A Carol Christmas" (with Tori Spelling) as backup.
