I'm embarrassed to admit that my favorite version of Scrooge is Scrooged with Bill Murray. And - they filmed the exteriors at the office building I used to work in, although it was years before I worked there.
Frank Cross to little Calvin: "Did I forget something, my man?"
Calvin (whispers):"God bless us everyone."
The complete look of shock and joy on his mother's (Alfre Woodard's) face - Niagara Falls, Frankie Angel...

There's a Christmas movie I'm trying to remember, I think from the 80s. It's something like, an elf from Santa's workshop gets lured away by an evil corporation that makes dangerous toys. There were toys stuffed with something bad, and maybe candy canes that catch fire? Does anyone remember this?

Don't be embarrassed! It's got Lee Majors kicking ass with Santa ("This is one Santa who's going out the front door!"). It's got Annie Lennox and Al Green singing the theme song. It's got Mary Lou Retton doing flips. It totally rocks!

I read somewhere that Vera-Ellen suffered from an eating disorder, so seeing that tiny, thin waist makes me kind of sad. Does anyone know if that's true?
I love the Patrick Stewart and the George C. Scott versions of A Christmas Carol. I have them both on DVD and must watch them every year.

Oh, yes! How could I have forgotten the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol? Of all the traditional classic versions, that's my favorite - second only to the above mentioned Scooged. (Hee, Ripley! Don't forget Robert Goulet's Cajun Christmas!)
ETA: AAAAACKKK! I just found out that my beloved gay boyfriend, Carson Kressley, is going to be in that made for TV abomination re-make of The Year Without A Santa Claus that was mentioned. Now I can't snark on it QUITE as much while I watch!

I read somewhere that Vera-Ellen suffered from an eating disorder, so seeing that tiny, thin waist makes me kind of sad. Does anyone know if that's true? From what I've heard, yes, it is true. She was anorexic. It was discovered that Vera-Ellen silently battled anorexia throughout much of the 50s before doctors had even coined the term or devised treatments. The following is from IMDb, so take it with a grain of salt, but it makes sense. All of her costumes in White Christmas (1954), down to her robe and sleepwear, were designed to cover her neck, which was aged beyond her years due to her eating disorder, anorexia.Of course, now I'm going to have to watch it again to check that out.

Scrooged is the best. I love Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Present. And dare I say it, Home Alone, is one of my favorite Christmas movies. Not the goofy slapstick battle against the would-be robbers, but the side story of Kevin and his elderly neighbor always gets me. And who can resist John Candy telling polka stories.
