I just thought of one I haven't seen in years but that I was a huge fan of as a kid: Prancer. It's slightly darker than most holiday movies, but it still has a good bit of the ol' Christmas magic to it. I hear there was a sequel, but I've never seen it.

I'm pretty sure that the Black Christmas remake (directed by X-Files' Glen Morgan and written by Morgan and BSG's Ronald Moore) is gonna be this year's choice. And even if the lobby isn't filled with Horny Jewish Hotties, it has Clark Gregg and his fivehead in it. I'm prepared to forgive him for writing What Lies Beneath and marrying Jennifer Grey if he'll climb into my Christmas long-johns stocking.

A Nightmare Before Christmas, anyone? I love it and try to watch it every holiday season. Of course, I'll always have a soft spot for Rudolph if only because he was my favorite stuffed animal as a child. But in my family, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas rules.
Add me to the growing list of people who hate The Sound of Music. My father couldn't stand to watch it and would just pass through the living room long enough to root for the Nazis. (I swear, my father wasn't anti-Semitic, he just wanted the Nazis to waste that family).

Was your dad one of the audience members who yelled out "She's IN THE ATTIC!" during the infamous Pia Zadora performance of Anne Frank?
I'm hella pissed that my eyes are screwed up and I can't view 3D. Otherwise, I'd be all over the 3D Nightmare.

Oh, man there are so many great Christmas movies, and I'm a chump for almost all of them! It's a Wonderful Life - I weep from start to finish. From the moment we see the stars in the sky and hear the prayers from his family and friends, right through till the moment the whole town is crammed inside the Bailey household singing "Auld Lang Syne", I cry like a baby. "Is this the ear you can't hear out of? George Bailey, I'll love you till the day I die." (*Eeeep...!*) A Christmas Story - ( Wicked Witch to Ralphie) "What a NICE little BOY!" ( Ralphie to the Wicked Witch)"Go away! I'm... I'm thinking." This is a total favorite of my family. I posted in the holiday thread that there's nothing more fun for me than sitting around with the people I love the most in the world as we watch ( or rather, listen to) "Schwartz get his." Elf is a more recent favorite! During the whole Christmas season, I'm half tempted to answer the phone, "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?" The best remark I ever heard anyone ever say about Elf was back on those other boards - "It's great because it's the only movie in the world where you'll get to see Sonny Corleone in a tickle fight!" I love Rudolph, but I've never been a big fan of Frosty. But Year Without a Santa Claus? The BEST EVER! "I'm Mr. Heatmiser, I'm Mr. Sun (*Ba dum ba dum!*)". I watched A Charlie Brown Christmas last night, and cried like a baby at Linus' speech. And I can't wait for the Grinch!

My mom and I love this movie so much.
I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life and I don't want to.
As a child, I wasn't allowed to watch Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer because I got too upset when the other reindeers were mean to Rudolph.
My mom's favorite Christmas movie is this cheesy ABC Family Movie called The Christmas Wish. She wants a copy of it but I doubt we could find one since it was only a tv movie.

linared, is this[/color] the right movie? It looks like it's available secondhand. I have to say I'm a Sound of Music fan, although it's mostly for nostalgic reasons. I can't explain why I like it, and I know there are better movies and shows, but whatever. I like nuns and architecture, and this movie had plenty of both. I never thought of it as a Christmas movie, though.

I'm not the only person who hates The Sound Of Music? What a relief! My mother thought I was a heathen for not liking it. I still keep it a secret how much I hate that movie because people look at me like I'm the child of Beelzebub and I just told them I like torturing puppies. I swear it is considered a heinous crime to fail to love this movie and all it's Van Trap goodness.
A movie I do like? Scrooge (1951). It does put me in a great mood. And "A Wonderful Life".
But generally I don't like Holiday movies. There really must be something wrong with me.

Thanks so much for looking but I don't think that is the right movie. I think the one she is looking for, the main character worked at a perfume counter, or least the plot had something to do with perfume. I think the main character made a wish and got all of this stuff that she wanted for Christmas but something goes wrong and she gives everything back.

This is the one you're looking for, and it has been released on DVD, but is currently out of print. It is one of my favorite cheesy TV Christmas movies. My very favoritest? Ebbie - starring Susan Lucci as Elizabeth Scrooge. There is nothing more hilarious than watching Molly Parker play Susan Lucci's older sister. Hmmm. I should go see if I can find it on Ebay....
