Okay, I just watched Traffic for the first time and AAAAAGGGGGHHHH. Topher Grace, what are you doing in that flophouse sniffing (?) heroin with that ridiculous girl sniffing more heroin so you guys can have ill-advised, three minute high school sex while she's high as a kite??? Aren't you supposed to be starring in a Winona Ryder vehicle or something? A goofy romantic comedy?. Topher in that role was just all kinds of wrong.

I'm usually not turned off by excessive gore/violence in movies. But there were two scenes from The Last King of Scotland that continue to give me nightmares. The first is where we see the king's wife lying on a hospital slab with her legs sewn into where her arms should be, and her arms sewn into where her legs should be. We had to rewind several times before we fully comprehended what happened there. The second was whenthe young doctor gets hung up by his nipples. OH MY GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.

Just watched TransAmerica... when the son hits on Bree and kisses her, then drops his robe in front of her, I just about retched. Incest is not cutie-cutie, even if the son didnt know at that stage.

Just saw 28WeeksLater and good god, the violence and gore and blood and camerawork is so intense. Ugh.

I just saw Crash (the sex 'n car crashes one, not the everyone's a racist one) for a class. Wow, was that disturbing. Excellent, but disturbing. One girl in the class walked out.
Which brings me to my gripe: people who freak out over not that bad stuff. The girl who walked out left after the rape scene, which is a perfectly legitimate place to walk out. It was disturbing both physically and intellectually, and I can see how she would be too offended to keep watching. No one else showed any discomfort. The next scene was the scar sex scene. Also quite physically disturbing. No one made a noise. The next scene involved two men having sex (not spoilered for sense-making). It was relatively mild. Everyone freaked the fuck out. Stupid homophobes! That was, like, the least disturbing scene in the whole thing!
