The hanging munchkin used to freak me out a bit when I watched The Wizard of Oz on VHS (even though I knew it was an urban legend). But I recently saw the film in HD for the first time, and it's completely obvious it was a bird. Ah, widescreen and HD, taking the creepy fun out of everything!

I was on a 70s exploitation movie kick this summer and finally got around to watching the last one in my queue. It's called Thriller: A Cruel Movie. Aside from being surprised by some hardcore porn scenes that were there for no reason, there was a very realistic and cringe-inducing eye-stabbing scene, which was made even more creepy once I researched it.

I use this thread for "movies not to watch."
This past weekend, bad weather had me housebound. I see Scarface listed, and I've never seen the whole thing. Bits and pieces, heard about it forever, etc. so I think I'll give it a try. There's a scene near the beginning in a hotel involving chainsaws, and I thought I was going to be sick. I like Al Pacino and I tried to stay with the movie, but that scene kept weighing on me and I found I simply didn't care how it ended.
So, the next day, I see License to Kill in the listings. James Bond, right, love him. The film mentions Colombian drug traffickers and chainsaws (thanks, guys), and later in the film, Benicio del Toro falls into the rock grinder.
I'm on a roll.

Years ago I saw part of The Grifters. There's a scene where a villain grinds a burning cigarette into Anjelica Houston's hand. In my mind it was very prolonged, but that could be just my imagination taking over. Anyhow, I couldn't enjoy the rest of the movie because the whole time I was sort of braced for something similarly gruesome.

That scene made me queasy, it was so effective. Just the anticipation of pain was enough to make it disturbing.

YES! The oranges. Good god, I could feel her fear. Disturbing but great scene.

I thought the Grifters was such a great film, but, yes, disturbing because of the anticipation of something awful going to happen. I remember raving about the movie to a co-worker who then went and saw it with his wife. He came back and told me that he would never take a movie recommendation from me again.

What about the creepy scene between Angelica and John Cusack, who play mother and son, where she is trying to seduce him. She was so awesome in that movie.
