I saw Antwone Fisher for the first time the other day. I was clutching tissues when he opened the door to his aunt's house at the end. It needed a minute after he then opened the door to the dining room.

I've been on an old movie kick lately, and just watched The Miracle Worker (the original, 1962 version). So many scenes made me tear up, but by the end I had actual tears running down my face. Anne Bancroft's portrayal of Annie Sullivan really broke my heart.

The thing that struck me--no pun intended--about that movie was how visceral and physical it was. It's exhausting as well as so very emotional. Then think that that was what Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke performed onstage how many nights a week? And for how long? Damn...

Watched An Affair To Remember for the gazillionth time this weekend. I cry every time at Cary Grant's face at the end when the penny finally drops. Sheer class - they don't make 'em like that any more.

I turned to Field of Dreams (I've watched it a zillion times, but hey, I've got Iowa blood) on one of the Starz channels the other day, just before the scene where Archie becomes Dr. Graham to save Ray's daughter. When Ray realizes he can't go back... complete waterworks. Every damn time. ETA: Found it on youtube. Prepare for excessive tears and snot, and enjoy!

A scene that always gets me is in The Parent Trap (the original with Hayley Mills) when Susan (pretending to be Sharon) meets her mother for the first time. I can't believe that part still makes me tear up, but it does! And while I'm talking about Hayley Mills, basically the whole last 15 minutes of Pollyanna makes me blubber like a fool.

What made me think that enough time had passed for me to watch Dead Man Walking?

I don't have to watch it, just reading your post made my eyes start to sting.
