Duckie was way too annoying and pathetic. I'm all for nerdy guys but he was creepy. I loved Blaine and thought he was definitely the sweeter of the two.
But, come on, James Spader - the ultimate bad ass. He was always my fav character. He didn't give a s**t to the very end because ITS JUST HIGH SCHOOL.

Blaine was sweet but had no balls. Spader was the Ultimate Shit! And he was rich, which seemed to be the most important thing to everyone. All about the Benjamins! Was the girl who played Andie's friend Jenna, Alexa Kenin , murdered during the filming of PiP? Seemed she was in alot of scenes in the beginning and then disappears without any explanation. She was very good.

She was very good. According to various sources on the internets, she either died of an asthma attack or was murdered by her boyfriend. There's an e-zine interview with Jon Cryer I read once but I remember finding something kind off about it at the time. This site makes a reference to that interview. My sister and I still refer to ourselves as the "richest, most popular people in town." There is something entirely unconvincing about the Noble Poor Person in most 1980s movies.

Thanks for the link chonies. Who knows if we'll ever get a straight answer about her death? She was too young.

From what I recall ( and according to IMDB), she was murdered, I think by her boyfriend, but her scenes had already wrapped, and she was already working on her next film which was released a good four years after she died. The ending of PiP was dedicated to her, and the film's set director, who also died three months after the film wrapped.

Here's one I haven't seen yet. It's perfectly all right to deceive people, even to the point where they become emotionally attached to and/or fall in love with you, as long as you're an undercover cop who is doing it to solve a crime. And of course, if your true identity is revealed, all will be forgiven by the end of the movie despite any anger or trust issues that resulted from all the lies.
A specific one: In Kingdom of Heaven, Balian refuses to kill Guy de Lusignan even though if Guy became king it would result in ruined relations with the Muslims and war, because Balian is a morally upstanding man. However just a few days before that, he had a roll in the hay with Sybilla. So it's wrong to kill one evil man in order to save thousands of lives, but it's perfectly okay to screw his wife? Hmm...

According to The Incredibles being born into greatness is better than earning it through passion and hard work. If you don't have to do anything to achieve your super-strength, you're a hero, but if you're born without a supernatural advantage, but you're smart enough to build compicated machines and devise elaborate schemes that can beat the superheroes, you're the bad guy.
Especially ironic given Bob's rant near the beginning of the movie about how society keeps finding new ways to exalt the mediocre while ignoring the truly great.

Especially ironic given Bob's rant near the beginning of the movie about how society keeps finding new ways to exalt the mediocre while ignoring the truly great. Well, in Syndrome's case, he ended up using his own gifts to kill off all those Supers and try to be the hero when he clearly didn't care for doing good deeds and said that when he retires he'll make his technology available to everyone so nobody will be exceptional anymore...

Movie moral that sticks in my craw: It's ok to have a slew of kids even if you can't support them because somehow, someday, things will work out ok, really! I spent all of In America and (an older movie but it still burns) Ladybug, Ladybug wondering exactly why I was supposed to feel any sympathy whatsoever for these people who couldn't figure out that kids cost money, therefore if you have none it might be better not to have another one. Especially on the government's dime.

ot/found this entry on the imdb boards : re: Alexa Kenin - I am writing this on the anniversary of Alexa Kenin's birthday. Today she would have been 44. Alexa was a very close friend of mine and much loved by all who knew her, especially me. I must correct any rumors because I feel that truth is paramount to speculation. Tragically, she died of a heroin overdose in her NY apartment on or about September 6 or 7, 1985. Alexa had used heroin 'recreationally' and was not an addict nor daily user. Apparently, a girlfriend had helped her with the fatal dose and got scared when Alexa became unconsious. Unfortunately, the 'friend' did not contact 911 and left Alexa to die alone. She was found dead by her very worried parents a few days later. In my opinion, there is really no one to blame in the world of drugs but the user. I will never forget Alexa and she'll remain in my heart forever. Hope that clarifies it all. My condolences continually go out to her family. Thanks for reading. /OT
