In Titanic when Jack talks Rose into getting on a lifeboat, insisting that he'll find one later, at the last possible moment she struggles out of the lifeboat and climbs back onto the boat to stick by his side. He says in this exhasperated voice, "Rose, that was so stupid! How could you be so stupid?" What I love about that line is that they are both -- what? -- 19 years old? 18? I mean, that is exactly what a teenager would say to another teenager under such circumstances. I loved it that they didn't have him give some flowery pronouncement about the sanctity of their love... Just, "You're so stupid, Rose!" |
